I understand Fi is US only, so overseas probably is....Good luck!!

Fi is absolutely NOT US only. Works great in China, Japan, all of Europe pretty transparently.
Being Google, I'm pretty sure you'd need to use a VPN to access it here in China.

Surprizingly not. It worked great in Shanghai without VPN. Was able a to access Facebook without issue. I wonder if Fi is it's own VPN.
