Your personal success rate with VOIP calls?

From what I've seen/heard Google Voice and your choice of a VOIP app don't work nearly as well as a big carrier voice plan and can hardly be taken seriously as a replacement for one. In my case for example, all of my calls either break up or flatout just dsconnect.. then again I only have about a constant 30-50% connection. Has anyone been able to make the full transition to VOIP calls at home?

I use Google Voice on my Droid X to call my daughter in Canada (no int'l cost, only minutes) and have never had a dropped call or static. Sounds just like a Verizon connected call to me.

I use Vonage with my Xfinity broadband service at home. Great sound quality, no lost calls. Only time I have a problem is if my cable is down I have to use my cell phone to call Xfinity to report it.
