your thoughts on the following apps

I was wanting to know what everyone was thinking about the following apps
1. Swype (didn't see it on the market but thought I saw something about it being open for beta)
2. Adw.launcher. heard about it from android central
3.pdanet tendering

I have an HTC incredible. They worth playing around with? Is Swype any good? Is that launcher app better than HTC sense?

1) Swype is getting a lot of press lately. If you go to their website I believe you can register for their 'open beta' and get the apk. I'm trying out Shapewriter (since I went ahead and downloaded it prior to it being removed from the market due to the developer being bought), I like it a lot. Swype is very similar. It really shines when typing long words.

2) I prefer LauncherPro (quicker updates), I tried ADW but had some problems. Bugs might be worked out now. The biggest advantage both have over Sense is the customizable shortcut-bar at the bottom. They're also prettier :) - I love the 3D app drawer in LauncherPro.

3) Tethering is kinda touchy. Officially Verizon doesn't support ANY third-party tethering, you have to pay for their service, and there's a cap of some kind on that. You can check the Incredible forum for more info, and a way to use native tethering for free, just realize there's a very small chance it could come back and bite you.

Swype - It's pre-installed on the MyTouch Slide so I've used it a few times. It's better than the standard on-screen keys IMO, but I still prefer using the qwerty for anything but just a tiny bit of text.

Dunno about the other 2, I just have pdanet tethering installed for "just in case" situations, I haven't actually used it yet...

Swype ROCKS!!!!

ADW.Launcher ROCKS!!!!

And I've got froyo so I don't need another app to tether :-P

Another great app to get would be QuickDesk. Compliments any launcher very well. It is probably my most used app.

1. The very best keyboard for any phone ever.
2. LauncherPro is better.
3. Wireless Tether for Root Users makes this obsolete.

Loving me some swype
Will have to check out quick desk
Thanks for all the feedback
Don't know when I'll be getting froyo so tethering
App will have to do for now

Possible a very silly question but does my old launcher still ' run' in the background and
drain my battery whilemy new launcher is running?
