Help Youtube/Facebook Locks up (should I exchange phone)

I decided to open up a new thread with pictures and explanation..

I've noticed that the phone locks up with youtube and facebook. So far it's only happened with those two apps. I'll get an icon stating stopped responding and if I should "wait" or "ok" to kill the app.

Is this normal? Should I exchange it for another phone or is it a software bug that people experience?

This first picture shows how the browser is using half the cpu..

I edited the picture for privacy, but that's how it will freeze.. It'll stop loading the picture and I won't be able to scroll anywhere, it just stops..

Have you cleared data on both apps? Drag the icon from the app drawer to 'App Info' and clear data.

Does it do it on wi-fi as well? I am just curious? I had the same problem with my Droid Chrarge when it was connecting to 4G on Verizon. What was odd is when I was only in a 3G area Youtube and Netflix worked fine. In any event I was able to get transferred to a Verizon Tech support guy and he walked me through changing some settings (proxy??). After that there was no lag or freezing.

With all the problems some are having I hope an update is in the works

It's happened over Wifi and over G4/G3..

I tested it yesterday, but you know what I just figured out..

It only happens with the Tmobile browser.. Hrmm, could it be settings of the browser?

I'll look more into it and keep you guys posted.

Ah, so happy to have found you! I am having the exact same problem and I am also on the Galaxy S3, only I have Sprint instead of T-Mobile.

I will say that when I first got this phone, I did NOT have this problem. But a few days later it started and I too have wondered whether I should return my phone.

I did find others online who have reported similar problems, starting in the past week or so, but are on other phones. That leads me to believe it might be a Facebook mobile issue and not a phone issue. I too am using the browser and not the crap-o-la app (I won't touch that thing).

Please, please, please post here if you find a solution. I promise to do the same. This has been driving me batty.

mine locks up on Facebook in the browser as well, but unlike my old Captivate, the FB App actually works on this phone, so I just use that now and avoid FB in the browser.

I havent tried youtube yet but Ill give that a shot later.

So I downloaded the Google Chrome app and from there I can access Facebook with no problems so far. When I click on a post to view comments, no lock up. I can scroll, etc.

I don't think I ever had a YouTube issue...

So I am guessing that the settings for the default browser is causing the problems we are seeing. I did mess around with them shortly after getting my phone so it is very likely the cause. But i have since tried to reset back to default settings with no luck.

So Google Chrome it is for my browser now...

mine was locking up on FB comment pages too, also using ~140mb, as posted above... with a ATT S3. You can also check desktop view before going to FB and it will display fine, albeit in desktop layout obviously :)

My phone was locking up constantly... no lock ups since I uninstalled the Facebook app. SIII on Verizon.

I use the facebook website now ....

Youtube doesn't cause me trouble.

I've noticed on youtube my phone has rebooted a few times since JB. And lets all be honest, facebook app has always had its issues. Verizon
