I am new here, sadly, I should of joined sooner. I am trying to root with z4root, it keeps on staying on the "Running Exploit" Is there any other way to root a mesmerize. Thanks!:)

If you read through some of the other threads about Z4root, you will find that it hasn't been supported in over a year.

Depending on what version of Android your phone is running, Super One Click may or may not be your best choice.

If you still have 2.1 or 2.2, you can still root with S1C. If you have already upgraded to 2.3, S1C does not work.

Thank you, is there anyway to downgrade or check what version you have?

I'm not trying to be mean, but if you aren't sure how to find that basic information on your phone, its probably not a good idea for you to attempt rooting your phone.

In my opinion, there is no advantage to rooting your phone unless you are intent on loading custom ROMs, uninstalling stock apps, tweaking voltage settings, etc. All of which require a pretty solid understanding of the phone before attempting. Once you brick your phone and don't know why, no forum out there will be in a position to help you.

With the Mesmerize specifically, if you do not know how to root or load a custom ROM there is definitely no advantage to rooting. The only method currently available (that I am aware of) requires a partial reflash. And it may or may not work.

Upgrading to stock 2.3.4 will provide much better reliability and stability right now.

Your best bet is update your phone to 2.3.4, read up on the rooting process, and wait for a more stable root utility to come out for the Mez.

I completely understand. The only reason why I want to root it is for the apps and also I still have a warranty on it, and I don't want to lose it!
