i think the App is free indefinitely - or at least a "Lite" version is. i already bought the app and paid $10 for it about a year and a half ago. not sure what happens to me. i think App is free and online via PC will cost you the subscription fee. Zagat is now owned by Google but the info on this is about as clear as mud.
 
The app comes with access to our full ratings and reviews for 30 days. At the end of this one-month trial, you can opt to subscribe or continue to use the lite version of the app. The “pay-once, all access” subscription model will give you full access to Zagat content on the website and on your mobile device for just $24.95 a year.
