ZTE Max suddenly not supporting my SanDisk SD card

My mom got these 64GB SD cards off amazon a couple weeks ago, and it worked just fine. I had 80 gigs of storage, everything was great.

Last night, it started acting a bit slow, which I was like "Okay, the apps on the SD card are slow so I'll reinsert it" and so I did, but the problem hasn't resolved and now its saying its unsupported. I've tried reformatting it and it just says that there was an error when doing it to Internal and it doesn't do anything when I do it to portable.

What in the world? Did I get a bad SD card all of the sudden? If it didn't support it in the first place, why didn't it say it before? And why are my moms and stepdads (Who have the same phone) fine?

You might want to try the card in a computer to see if it can be read successfully. It's not unheard of for SD cards to develop problems. Could be a bad card which worked initially for a while.

Like @LV426 mentioned, try in a computer next. But this time reformat that sdcard via PC's 'slow format' process, then replace into the Android device and once again reformat with that. If problems continue than yes, very possible you have a bad card. Also keep in mind that if you are using the card as internal storage, that is an exponential increase of read/write functions that'll wear out an sdcard, equivalent of driving something downhill with undersized brakes. As in, it's gonna wear out crazy fast. In all actuality, a memory card has a limited number of wipes it can handle before the cell has lost is integrity to be able to be read or written to. Some of the things you can do to help offset it is to get better & faster cards but just remember that it's still limited to fundamentals of it's design's capability. All things wear out, the speed of which coincides with your personal use

I keep trying the computer, and like @bcrichster said I am doing the slow format. But it keeps saying that it was unable to complete the format. It didn't even read successfully in the first place...is it possible that I'll need a new SD card?

Daaangit...alright. Anyway that I can avoid this problem in the future?
Possibly.. Get a decent card with warranties, Like SanDisk for example. Don't use an sdcard as internal storage unless you expect to replace them often

Awesome, thank you very much. Also, I just got my SD card...would be it under warranty even if I got it off of amazon?

Should be, there'll be details on the package about them, giving a website and reference #'s or something. Sometimes don't see that info until ya get it open (on inside)

Shouldn't have thrown it away...argh. We have to pick some things up at the store anyway, I'll ask my mom if we can go to like Walmart and pick up one. I saw on their website they have some like mine.

My mom said that hers did the same thing, and she restarted it a bunch of times and it worked. She uses hers for internal storage as well, why isn't mine doing the same thing?

Not sure at the moment, could be a difference in devices and /or plain usage..

Variable quality. Was this a cheap SD card?

I think it was around 20 bucks...I think, not sure.

But I now have my new SD card, how exactly do I move stuff over? Or will it just automatically save on there instead of my internal storage?
