finally I figured it out
plug your phone into pc and go through all usb connection modes on your phone to install drivers.
Then install the drivers from the phone to the pc.
Now set phone usb to connect to pc software and make sure usb debugging is ticked in settings / developer options.

be patientNewly frustrated ZTE 956 owner. The biggest problem I have is that I cannot access data on this phone.
Rooted the phone using the above program. The processes worked and installed SuperUser however it seems to be impossible to install Clockwork Recovery or anything else I would like to try to fix the data/radio/? problem.
