ZZZPhone?

So Im surprised this hasnt been mentioned yet. But I was googling around to see if anyone had found a way to hack the g1 to get it to work on ATT. I found this thread, But thats not whats important.

They were talking about this "zzzphone", apparently a second android phone coming out relatively soon. I dont want to sit here and sound like Im advertising, but supposedly its 100$ something, but you can add things like gps for a fee.

What Im wondering is if anyone else has heard of this? Used it? Purchased one? If its been reviewed by PC mag and others why havnt we heard of it untill now? Scam?

add GPS for a fee..... Sounds fishy to me.... the phone either has GPS or it doesnt.... unless the carrier it's supposed to be on (haven't read your link yet) wants to charge you for a program to use the gps....

"hacking" the G1 to get it to work on AT&T won't be 100% successful due to the fact that the frequencies used for the 3G portion of the phone are different between the two carriers. It'd work on EDGE, but that'd kinda be like a kiss without a hug. :D

ok, I just checked out your link, as well as zzzphone.com for a second and.... looks like a halfbaked effort to me. sound like you get a "customized" phone built for your and I bet they just stick android on there without much thought into. I fore see a lot of hardware functionality issues due to android not being properly configured for it.
Something like my dell 1420 with ubuntu preloaded. much of the hardware (like camera, Mic) did not work out of the box since it seems dell did not put too much effort into hardware functionality

It's an interesting idea, though. Having a phone to be hardware-customizable to allow for total and complete custom phones (hardware and software aka android + "zzzphone"). But, in all reality, it'd really never be all that practical. Imagine an assembly line for ONE phone, then imagine an assembly line for one phone with GPS, one not, one phone with blutooth, one not. The case for this phone has to be ugh-lee. (yes, sp, i no)

Probably just another version of the chinese clone phones. I heard there were 2 chinese android clones already set to hit the market for about 200.00. Cheap, unwarranteed and no tech support whatsoever.
