Using TensorFlow Lite in Xamarin.Android

I am attempting to use the Custom Vision feature of Microsoft Azure by exporting the data for TensorFlow Lite. I am able to use Custom Vision & export the labels.txt & model.tflite files successfully with no problem, my problem is figuring out how to write the app & use TensorFlow Lite in Xamarin.Android (NOT Xamarin.Forms) & C# (NOT Java). I found the following page:

Image Classification with TensorFlow Lite & Azure Services - Xamarin Blog (microsoft.com)

However, this page seems to use Xamarin.Forms, and I am obviously missing some of the steps when attempting to convert it to Xamarin.Android. I have added the following additional NuGet packages (if there are others please let me know):

Microsoft.Azure.CognitiveServices.Vision.CustomVision.Prediction
Microsoft.Azure.CognitiveServices.Vision.CustomVision.Training
Xamarin.TensorFlow.Lite

I have written many Xamarin.Android apps before, so I am familiar with most stuff usually involved in a Xamarin.Android app using C#. Can anybody help me or suggest a site with a complete example or tutorial (including required NuGet packages required for TensorFlow Lite)? (NOTE: I am using Visual Studio 2022, NOT Android Studio) Thanks!

Help Sending Text Message from commandline/url

I need a way to make my phone send a text message from a script on my computer. I'd like to use an HTTP POST or GET from my pc with the recipient number and the message, and that cause my phone to send the text.

I plan to generate links in a spreadsheet of people I need to talk to, and if they want more information I plan to click the appropriate link for what they asked for and it send it to them in a text.

What's the right app for that?

Weird File Copying Anomaly

This is not a problem that needs a solution; it is just a weird anomaly that I encountered today and never before after several years of using the same program.

I have used a program that allows me to enter data on my computer and synchronize that data to my phone as well as copy files between the phone and computer. All has worked as expected for years but something has changed.

I connect to the phone to the computer so all files on the phone are viewable on the computer's display. I highlight/select all the files I want to copy from the phone then drag them to a folder on the computer. If I drag the files with the mouse pointer pointed to a file in the middle of the list, only that file and those above it are copied. The ones below the mouse pointer are not copied. So, in order to copy all the files, I must drag the list of selected files by the last file in the list.

This is an operation I have done for years at least once a month and sometimes several times a week and this has never happened before; however, it is a new anomaly that started inexplicably and is consistent and persistent.

Has anyone else ever encountered something similar to this?

Bluetooth in-car audio

Bluetooth-streamed audio to my car is quieter than the factory audio and the sound is less "bassy". If I listen to the factory audio, such as the FM radio, the sound quality is a bit better and a fair bit louder (for a given volume setting) than if I stream music (through Musicolet).

I have tried the developer options RE bluetooth audio but it made no difference. I don't think it is the car set up, but who knows!? For reference, the car is a Lexus LS460 and I'm streaming it to a GROM VLine unit, which is not factory fit, although I don't think it's that that is quiet, because other sounds (e.g. system sounds) appear loud.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks in advance.

Using CameraX in Xamarin.Android

I am attempting to create my first Xamarin.Android app that uses the camera (I have already written many other apps that do not use the camera). I am writing my app using Xamarin.Android (NOT Xamarin.Forms) & C# (NOT Java). I have found documentation & samples related to Camera2 (Camera2 overview | Android Developers) & CameraX (CameraX overview | Android Developers), however, these were all either using Java or using Xamarin.Forms instead of Xamarin.Android. I would also like to learn to use TextureView to display the preview (although this would be my first time for TextureView as well, so if that is not appropriate for this thread is too complex, it is not the most important topic here). I know how to make all the standard parts of an app, it is just the camera that I need help with. Can anybody help me or recommend a good complete sample or tutorial that includes ALL components (including required NuGet packages, permissions & other things specific to a camera app)? I am also going to mention that I am using Visual Studio 2022 (NOT Android Studio). Thanks.

Help. broken screen, need access

Hello, I really need help. I'll keep it short.
My phone broke. something on the display is cracked and my phone only shows lines when turned on. no screen, nothing. I really need access to an app I have on my phone and the phone is unusable. This is urgent.. is there a way to connect my phone to my pc and mirror it despite it being broken? I really just need the app..

Still going Strong. On original Battery!

IMHO the S2 is STILL the best 8' android tablet to date. I bought x2 new when they first came out. The original batteries are in them. I've always kept them plugged in. My S2 stopped its GPS functioning about a year ago. I have been unable to bring it back. Otherwise, it works just fine. My wife's S2 continues trucking along as she plays endless word games on it and reads e-pubs. I wish Samsung had continued the line.

F-Droid - how to get/how to install

I am not familiar at all with installing apps to a cellphone. I have ended up with a Motorola G Power 2021 and it is TOTALLY filled with apps that are tied to Google.

Long time ago Google locked me out of my email because I refused to provide them with additional personal information. So, I have no access to Play Store even if I wanted to do so.

I am on my laptop to access this forum and ask: How do I get F-Droid app so that I can then get apps to use on my phone? Can I download it onto this laptop and then install it to my phone? It doesn't seem logical to use Google's Chrome browser to get F-Droid so that I can then Avoid Any And All Google apps. I don't want to continue even limited web browsing via Chrome.

Maybe this very dumb but can someone inform me on this?

android app that contains a crontab to pull data via and API to my website

I have an app that you enter some values into an sqlite database... then I need a crontab type thing running that will based on your config settings run every minute, hour, day, week or month... and it will read the data from the sqlite database and then using an API interact with my website to do some things.

In the app you set up the crontab interval

How does one do this?

Thanks in advance for your time

Help Where do I find key mapping files used by Gboard and/or Samsung KB?

I use a Bluetooth keyboard from Logitech generally using Hungarian QWERTZ

I have tried three keyboards two of which give the wrong character for "shift + 1", but a third does it correctly

- Samsung Keyboard wrong "!"
- Gboard wrong "!"
- External Keyboard Helper (Playstore app) right "'"

"shift + 4" on all keyboards produces "!", which is right

This leads me to think that:

- the Logitech keyboard may not be at fault (because the Playstore app works okay with it)
- Samsung and Gboard look to be at fault: why produce the same character with two different keystrokes?!
- Gboard might be using the mapping set by Samsung

I have the same problem on both S10+ and on Tablet S7

Are there any files I could check? Google and Samsung don't want to know about my problem

Hovering icons for running apps?

I can only assume that it is part of a recent update (Samsung S21 Android 12) but when I minimize or pause a running app, like a music player, maps, etc. a hovering icon for that appears on my home screen. If I reopen the app with that floating icon it opens up a foreground window for that app instead of running full screen. What setting controls this and how do I turn it off? It is incredibly annoying.

I finally received Android 13 but...

I got Android 13 OTA yesterday. It was
1.02 GB update but took only 2 hours. After the install, I started going over the new items I read about in one of the articles. It had two changes under Wallpaper & Style. First was the additional color schemes to match your Wallpaper, which I have.
Then, there should be a setting for icons to match the color scheme. The article from Android Police said, "Material You also lets you change the color of your home screen icons to match the rest of your theme. The feature was introduced in Android 12 in beta. It's still labeled as a beta feature now, but Android 13 officially extends support for these color-changing app icons to third-party apps.". The article on Reddit says the same. But I don't have the icon setting. I wonder if it's because of my Verizon carrier or could Google have dropped it in the final release?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What the heck is an XAPK?

If anyone knows me well enough, the first two things I do on a new Android phone (or good used old one) is remove the Play Store and disable the Download Manager (to keep Play Services from updating/forcing server side updates on other apps or allowing them to force updates on me/respawning the Play Store/etc)

I'm an old school Android guy. I didn't need app stores then, and don't need them now. My browser is Dolphin Mini from 2009 (ironically it works on all modern sites thanks to System WebView being used by it)

Though I no longer believe in updates for various reasons, there's 4 apps I often have to update to use them and I tend to do those updates twice yearly to avoid the annoying, flow-breaking 'you must update this app to keep using it' prompt. Those apps are Walmart, Kroger, Little Caesar's and Burger King. However, many sites listing APKs like APKPure, APKMIRROR and so on, tend to only list the most recent app versions of those apps as 'XAPK'.

I tried to install one, and it failed acting like it had no idea what an XAPK is. I agree. I never heard of it and I can't find much info online about it. All's I know is I cannot just tap and install from the file explorer like I'm used to doing, so now I'm stuck on the last APK only variants from May 2022. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do with an XAPK or know of anywhere I can download the regular APK or is this just another 'future' I'm unprepared for?

Help Transfer memos from Samsung Memos to Samsung Notes?

Trying to transfer memos from the old Samsung Memos app on a J5 to Notes on an A32 Android 11 and it's not working. Various sites say to copy the ShareMemo folder to the new phone and I did that; it's in the phone now > go into Notes > Settings > Import Data From > Phone, but it's not seeing the folder. Same if I copy over the .memo files separately.

My old phone doesn't have Samsung account so transferring through that isn't an option.
