(Solved) Manifest merger failed with multiple errors on new project.

Hi.

I am university student who recently started android development module. We were advised to use Android Studio 3.5.3.
After creating couple simple projects the Android Studio won't allow me to create new projects - the ones that result in hello world app. The projects that are already done work fine.

The error that I am getting is: "ERROR: Manifest merger failed with multiple errors, see logs". The AndroidManifest.xml Merged Manifest view doesn't show any errors though. I can successfully rebuild the project by clicking "Make Project" or Ctrl+9 but I end up with broken activity_main.xml view.

I have already tried to move existing projects to another location to see if it makes any changes but the problem still persist.

I have also tried couple solutions found on the internet but they did not work (like changing "
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.5.3' to classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.5.4'.

Any help would be appreciated.

AT&T keeps having me reset the network settings which does nothing to fix this and the Samsung customer support closed the call after the issue didn't present itself when we were troubleshooting the issue. I have absolutely no idea how to fix this other than reformatting my phone back to factory default and erasing everything. I seen there was a thread on this issue but can't seem to find it. Has anyone figured out this issue?

Also I can't see any Gradle things in Android folder too.

Help I can't update my Xperia L1 to Android 8 (Oreo)

I've recently bought an used Xperia L1 (in very good condition, looks like brand new) to use it as a secondary phone.

The only issue is that I can't update it to Android 8, even though, as I found on the internet, Xperia L1 supports it. The device, which runs Android 7.0 (https://imgur.com/a/5UcEjyY) just says it has the latest available system updates (https://imgur.com/a/FX04B5i).

How can I solve this problem?

Camera app crashing or shows black screen

Over the past few weeks, what I believe is my default camera app keeps crashing on me. Sometimes I get an error message (I can't recall what it said, and of course now I can't get it to fail no matter what), but most of the time it's just a black screen.

I've done the usual (cleared cache and cleared data) and sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. And despite it fixing it for a while, these actions only last a few days at best until it acts up again. I've even gone to the extreme of doing a factory reset on my phone, only to have the problem return. I also confirmed my phone is currently up-to-date on the OS.

Any thoughts?

OnePlus 6t
Android version 11

When I long-press on the camera app, the screen shows the software version of the camera software is 3.14.40 It also shows OnePlus All rights reserved at the bottom, so I'm fairly certain this is the default camera app. I haven't tried a different camera app because I like the features of the app.

Thanks,

Andy

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2022

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Celebrate with moderation. :) I hope that you have some Irish in you if only in spirit. Enjoy the day and share some love.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Apps Proper way to close a fragment

Hey all I have 3 fragments - activity_main, _fragmoviesand _fragvideoplay.

In the activity_main I have the following:

In my _fragmovies I have the following:

In my _fragvideoplay I have the following:

On the activity_main I have the videoFrame that loads the _fragmovies fragment inside it when it's called by the _fragmovies.

public void startVideo(String mp4Name) {
tabLayout = (TabLayout) findViewById(R.id.mTabLayout);
tabLayout.setVisibility(View.GONE);

myfragment = new videoPlay();

//pass data
Bundle bundle = new Bundle();
bundle.putString("KEY", mp4Name);
myfragment.setArguments(bundle);

fragmentManager = getSupportFragmentManager().beginTransaction();
fragmentManager.setTransition(FragmentTransaction.TRANSIT_FRAGMENT_FADE);

frameLayout = findViewById(R.id.videoFrame);
frameLayout.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);

fragmentManager.replace(R.id.videoFrame, myfragment).commit();
}
The _fragmovies has a temporary button that, when pushed, loads up the _fragvideoplay fragment into the main_activity (the function above) along with passing the name of the video for _fragvideoplay to load up.

MainActivity ma = (MainActivity)getActivity();
ma.startVideo("thelostegg");
My question is:

What is the proper way to close the _fragvideoplay from within the _fragvideoplay function which is preformed by clicking on the close FloatingActionButton?

closeVid.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
@override
public void onClick(View v) {
if (floatingBtnMenu.isOpened()) {
_stop();
getActivity().getFragmentManager().popBackStack();
}
}
});
I tried using the getActivity().getFragmentManager().popBackStack(); but that does not seem to get rid of the _fragvideoplay so that I am able to see the _fragmoviesfragment page again (The one with the button on it).

Data recovery on a faulty s6 screen.

Hi, so one day my s6 started to flicker when screen brightness turned down (low battery).

Week or so later and my screen became semi unresponsive, flickering, glitches flashing. Its responsive but unable to see anything, I've tried looking at pictures and tried to estimate where things would be but to no avail.

My charging port broke about a year or 2 ago and I recently realised I had baby pictures that are only on here and decided to change the charging port which now works. I've tried kies but need to unlock phone which I can't do, tried findmyphone but I've moved and so no network access. I've tried mirroring to my t.v with adaptors and keyboard and mouse but it just ain't working.

Is there any way to recover the photos... also there maybe some private photos which I don't think I could take into a shop without some embarrassing looks.

Any help with this ancient phone would be very helpful.

Thank you.

Never able to get COLORS right in images!!

Hello everyone, it's been a while!!
I should have asked this YEARS ago....but I take a ton of images for my small biz website. And I have NEVER gotten multiple colors to appear anywhere close to accurate. Especially the saturated hues or deeply toned hues of ANY color. Blue, green, purple, red...they all look like 1/2 of what they should look like in depth and rich tones. AND this has happened with all of my smart phones (all android). I've tried messing with the ISO, etc. Nothing works. To get anywhere NEAR the ballpark of something I can work with (and it still usually won't work) I have resorted to taking all of these product pics at dusk, outside and then still needed to do a ton of image editing. It's ridiculous. I'll attach pics of one I took and one that's actually accurate that I copied online of the exact same item. BTW, I took my pic with blinds almost closed and no direct light at all. And it's still washed out blue...and purple colors are even worse.

I'd absolutely LOVE any ideas or advice. Or is this just 'normal'? That would be tragic.
Thank you, thank you...
