Before buying Solid Explorer, I’ve got a final set of questions about features, customization, and a few issues. I’m on Day 3 of the trial and want to remove ads right after purchase. Appreciate any help

1. Casting & Media Player
I love the cast feature—very handy for TV.
Does SE have a built-in video player or rely on third-party apps like VLC?
When playing videos via VLC, it briefly switches between SE and VLC—normal or fixable?

2. Cloud & Root Access
Does SE allow full access to all files in all Google accounts?
Can we cast cloud-stored files (Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.)?

3. Support
Is Reddit (r/NeatBytes) the only official support for licensing or activation issues?

4. Android TV
Can SE be installed and used on Android TV?

5. Left Menu Customization
Can we reorder items (e.g., OneDrive → Google Drive → PC)?
Can we add shortcuts for PDFs only?
Are sections like “Collections” and “Tools” fixed and not customizable?

6. Features: Shizuku & USB OTG
What’s the Shizuku feature?
How well does SE handle USB OTG drives? (Haven’t tested yet.)

7. Multiple Google Accounts
If SE is bought using one Google account, can it still access files from others?

8. SMB Sync Issue
SMB changes don’t reflect until I switch folders—any fix?

9. Resource Usage
Is SE heavier on battery or RAM than other file managers?

10. Feature Requests / Future Plans
Any plans for:
Direct cloud-to-cloud file transfers?
Casting multiple files (like playlists)?
Subtitle support while casting?

How do I do that? I want you guys to check out "How Google Ruined Your Phone" from The Lever. It tells how that nasty goo is "cracking down" on Android functionality from third parties and offers a few alternative operating systems, such as Graphene. I would like to know if getting another os would involve rooting. I just have this feeling...

I have Moto G Power 5G 2024 and use either a softphone (Groundwire) or Facebook messenger to talk to people. I have a data-only account.
I get the same following results with either app.
When I select a number or dial a new number, the moment I press the talk button, my screen shuts down, but the connection attempt proceeds.
To see what is happening with the call, I press the power button to turn the screen back on, but I have no audio, in or out. I press the speaker button and I get audio.

Receiving a call is more frustrating. I hear the call, but the screen does not surface. I need to open thinhe app based the ringtone, then press the talk button, which shuts down the screen, then open the screen and press the speaker button before speaking.

It is almost as if the onboard phone settings are interfering with my softphone and Messenger processes. Do you have any hints about what might be happenng? Thanks

I had it previously installed with my moto edge plus, but with the five g, I cannot seem to sync with the system to my ps3.. I tried Bubble too, that is not working for me one bit.. Any work around?

Whilst I agree that the Samsung Fold7 is an improvement on the Fold6 I noticed that in the Samsung Unpacked event that Samsung were careful to use phrases such as...

"Our thinnest Samsung Fold", "Our best camera on a Samsung Fold", "The slimmest Samsung Fold".

Only a few years ago, if you wanted a fold phone, Samsung were pretty much the only game in town. However, things have moved on and Samsung have some heavyweight rivals to contend with that offer identical or better features at a lower price and are beginning to eat in to Samsung's dominance in the Fold phone market. It is no longer, I believe, enough for Samsung to say... "This is our best Fold phone ever". They need to look at the devices that their competitors are offering at around £300/US$400 cheaper. Last year Samsung apologised for, "A lack of innovation", and this is starting to cost them in the Fold phone market. Perhaps the heavily rumoured Galaxy G Trifold phone later this year may be just what they need to pull ahead again.

When a new device attempts to connect to my Samsung S23 Ultra, the phone plays the stock Notification sound, even if my phone is in Do Not Disturb.

I don't want to hear anything. The only way to avoid this is to remember to turn off all sounds before pairing. That's not ideal, of course.

I have looked in:
Settings=>Apps=>[The New Device's App]=>Notifications... are Blocked
Settings=>Apps (Show System Apps)=>Bluetooth=>Notifications... Sound and vibration is OFF. "Allow Notifications" is ON but grayed out so I can't change it.
Settings=>Apps (Show System Apps)=>Bluetooth=>Notifications=>Notification categories are all defaulted to ON but are also grayed out.

I suspect Notifications has to be left ON so the "Input PIN" screen will pop up when a new device tries to connect, but I want silence.

I am running Android 15, Build number AP3A.240905.015.A2.S918USQS6DYF3 with Samsung's One UI version 7.0.

I haven't spent this much on a phone in quite a while, more than a hundred bucks. Overall it's pretty good. It does charge fast but it seems to drain a bit quickly, and sometimes it gets almost hot even though it's not being used for games or anything that way. About the most strenuous thing I've put it through is making a video or charging. Any suggestions (reasonable) would be appreciated.

I bought a new RedMei phone in 2022, just before I left China (yes, poor planning on my part). It is not compatible with any services in the US, but it is still a good micro computer - can play movies, use wifi to access the net, etc. Recently I have read of the possibility of "time bombs" or "bugs" being hidden in Chinese phones, routers, etc that can be access remotely to shut a device down. I would like to know if it is possible to root this phone and then reinstall a completely English version of Android on it? or even some other OS? I am 99% sure that I will never be using this for the telephone features.

so i have the Meta Rayban glasses and i love it. the only complaint i have is the battery life. it is not great, it can last about 4-6 hours before it is 15%. but the charging case can charge it to 50% with in 20 minutes so it is not too big of a deal.

i have now pre-ordered the Meta Oakley glasses which supposed to have superior battery life. it looks super cool. it is not cheap though. also the one i pre-ordered is a limited edition.



anybody have smart glasses? or curious about them? i love mine and can't wait for this new one.

As far as I know it has appeared when the notification bar is not full, and that is the only meaning of the dot I can find on a web search.

I wanted to search to find if anybody else had posted about a small dot at the top of my screen But both dot and top were not accepted by the search making it utterly useless

After update to One UI 7.0 the phone won't switch off.

It doesn't seem possible that the big Independence Day celebration is upon us once again. How time flies when one is having fun. So far we haven't made any plans for the 4th. My son and his family are spending the holiday at the lake. My daughter in California will use the time to move into the new home they just had built. My daughter that lives local is our only hope of doing something family oriented. The wife and I will be available for whatever. I'm sure I'll be smoking out something so we will have some good eats. It's likely that I will have some old friends in town to share a bit of time with.

Hopefully it does not come to me needing a new SIMS card, it has been ages since I activated a brand new one, that was ages since I had it, So how can I get an eSIMS though?

One day it was a crisp firm fit, and the next day it was difficult to push the plug in all the way, loose and sloppy and it comes up with 'check your charger connection' 9 times out of 10 (It still charges, but slowly) regardless of which cord I use. The data connection to PC only works sometimes too.

I did a thorough clean of the socket, some fluff came out but that made no difference. Why the sudden change?

So I am not aware that my heavy metal goes through my widex, with other people listen, until one day when I was in vacation and sat up in the kitchen table and wrote, my sister noticed it, but it was an acoustic cottage though, about like same sound as almost a small hallway, without too many doors but with paper thin ones, and the doors are wood. So my question is how to turn it only of where I can hear it and with the rest cannot?
