Easter Weekend

I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend. I haven't anything planned this year. My son is in the middle of a refinery shutdown and will be working. So... we will not get to see the great grandkids hunt eggs this year. I'll likely smoke something Sunday. Rain is in the forecast for both Saturday and Sunday with a chance of storms. It just can't seem to rain here anymore so it will not likely mess up any egg hunting plans.
I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend. Be safe if you travel and I hope you share some time with treasured friends and or family.

Concerned

I'm concerned about the well-being of @Clementine_3 and @MoodyBlues. I know Moody is having health issues but had continued to log in to AF now and then even if she didn't post. She has not logged in this year. Clem is a more recent absentee. I know she was disappointed in the more recent downturn in family friendly posts here but understood she, being the only active female, was outnumbered. She gave no indication she was leaving so I worry about her health. Both of these ladies are long term contributing members that these forums and I truly miss. I hope they are fine. There are so few of us left that the impact of losing a quality member is devastating to me.

Sorry... I'm a mushy old man and worry about the AF family. If you know anything about the missing... please let us know.

Samsung Fold/Flip 6 & S24 series One UI 7.0 rollout halted by Samsung

"Samsung seems to have pulled the firmware update from its OTA servers without explaining why. According to leakster Ice Universe, Samsung discovered several bugs on devices that got the One UI 7 update, including instances where updated phones could “not be unlocked normally”. SamMobile also reported a critical bug with Samsung's Secure Folder, which exposes users’ Gallery contents."

Really slow video on Samsung Tab A7

I have a Tab A7 and I have a slot game that is just so slow. Yeah, it's a lower end tablet, but we're talking a slot game, not a first person shooter. So I installed and ran 3D Mark Sling Shot and it says my tablet is slower than 81% of all Tab A7s, much less higher end units. My tablet is a 2022 model with 3gb and 32gb. So two questions:

1. Any clue why the video would be so slow?

2. Is there another 8" tablet that would be an improvement in video? I'm fine with any brand. But 8 or 9" seems to be disappearing from the world.

Thanks!!

I accidently downloaded two CAP files from NVIDIA to assisst with..

My monitor still light flickers, no headaches from it though, it is annoying.
So far I have disable the monitor, reinstalled with with the correct digital download.
Updated the windows seveal times, it is up to speed,
checked my cords= no damage since they are brand new.
I searched everywhere to make it stop, but all I am getting is "Disable and reinstall your monitor device."
I am a bit upset.

Samsung Exynos 2600 2nm chips may power Galaxy S26 series worldwide

Chip foundries have come a long way, and the biggest challenge seems to be shaking off a bad reputation. Mediatek, for example, has long been regarded as making budget processors for budget devices. Their new Dimensity 9500 processors, however, can hold their own against Snapdragon and Exynos chips.

TSMC has processor design and production down to not only a science, but an artform: Qualcomm is the go-to brand for a large number of manufacturers. Samsung's in-house Exynos processor has long had a bad reputation as a lesser-quality chip than Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.

Samsung Foundry, however, seems to have finally (better late than never) figured out what went wrong with their Exynos 2500 3nm chips... and are now far ahead on the 2nm process. It may result in a Samsung device as good, maybe even better, than one powered by Qualcomm and at a lower price, since Samsung would be making its own chips.

Help Zoom in and scroll faster questions

Hello,

Q1. How to zoom in for apps that do not respond to zoom in gesture (pinch-out gesture)? (note: "pinch-out" gesture, start with your thumb and index finger touching the screen, then spread them apart to zoom in.)

Q2. How to keep scrolling down/up automatically on apps that have long information (continuous scrolling info) so I can go to the top or bottom info faster?
I tried to use a scrolling app but it is still very slow, I am using this app Flex: Multi-Speed Auto Scroll Flex: Multi-Speed Auto Scroll - Apps on Google Play

Thanks

Humble apologetic confession, and a question

My humble apologies, folks. For the past few years, I have been a closet iOS user, since my trusty old Motorola would not come into the modern LTE age and my employer gave me my old work iPhone when I retired. Since my wife is an iPhone fan, I had consigned myself to buying another iPhone to replace my aged and no-longer-supported iPhone (since she relies on me to answer any question or solve any issue she may have with her iPhone; after all, it's far easier to help someone with an OS when you use it yourself).

Thankfully, the story does not end there. Fate happily intervened in my favor when my carrier put out an offer for half-off a new Pixel 9, which would have been my choice to return to the Android world anyway. I mentioned this deal to my wife and, as I suspected, her concerns about spending money overcame her concerns about iOS support, so my new Pixel 9 is arriving today, and I couldn't be happier about the way things turned out.

That said, I have a tech question, and where better to put it than in my favorite Android forum (name change aside)?

Is there any kind of easy way to migrate contacts, notes, files and music from the iPhone to the Pixel? I can backup the iPhone data to my laptop with iTunes, but I'm not sure about getting into the Pixel other than manually coping or entering items. Ugh.

So, if you're familiar with that challenge or have some ideas, please let me know.

Thankful to be back in the Android world!

Voice activated smart watch < $100

I am studying to be a nurse and I have several tasks that require being timed - I also need to keep my hands free. I would like to get a watch, pendant, etc that has a timer that is voice activated - I can say "begin timing" and it will time 30 seconds or one minute, etc. As the title says, I don't have a lot of money to throw at it, so iWatch, Samsung, etc are out of the question. A watch or pendant will work. I cannot have anything that goes on my hands.

Customise predictive text?

On my previous phone, a Samsung S10, after a while of using it remembered my bank sort code when writing a text/email and offered it as a suggested text.

On my current phone, a Google Pixel 8 running the Gboard keyboard it hasn't done this.

Is there any way to customise the list of words used for predictive text as it would be dead handy if I could get this feature back?

Hey you folks... I accidently.

When I was downloading back my ASUS motherboard, by accident I deleted the entire thing for my monitor a ge 8400, and it is shrunken down the entire windows to a mear 1500 X 800 window on accident, I accidently download the file, and right click on view underneath notepad, so basically stuck with a bunch of "Y"s inside the notebook instead of having a handy right click underneath my main menu right click, for your basic operation in windows ten..

So what is your rom file (Non gaming) that to correct the problem?

What is personalised notifications on youtube?

I've turned on 'personalised notifications' from several channels that were bugging with with too many shorts, hoping it may mean less of those notifications if I don't click on them. Seems that's not the case. What on Earth does 'personalised notifications' mean? There's zero attempt at any explanation when selecting it, and when searching relevant explanatory videos on YT there's nothing relevant or current either. What does it mean?

Clearing the Clipboard

Please be sure to read edit below. Hello. My password manager will occasionally copy passwords to the clipboard, and then it is supposed to automatically delete it after a specified amount of time. But the password doesn't actually get deleted. The password manager simply creates a new clipboard "entry" that is blank. My guess is it is because older versions of the clipboard only stored one entry at a time, but now the clipboard can store multiple entries (?)

This ends up bothering me, and the only way I have ever figured out to clear the clipboard of all entries is to use the "Keep Notes" app, and go through the motions as if I was composing a note in order to activate Gboard and gain access to the clipboard to delete any entries stored.

Is there an easier way to do this?

Thank you for your assistance.

EDIT: I don't know how to delete this post. I consider it very bad form to "abandon" a post asking for help, so I will edit this one. I found the information I was looking for from Chat-GPT. I am unwatching this thread, and will not see any replies.

Android 15-Happy Anniversary

Ft1bd6f.jpg

Believe it or not, it is now 6 months since Android 15 was launched officially on the vivo X Fold3 Pro global model worldwide on the 27th September 2024. During this time the Android 15 firmware has performed well and is very battery friendly and apart for some minor bugfixes and optimizations, has caused no major issues. I only hope that Android 16, due in June, is as good.

Help SOLVED Unable to restore home screen digital clock & date

Honor X6b, Android 14. Somehow I have deleted the home screen text-based clock and date. There are no widgets in this phone. The home screen doesn't respond to double-taps, just squeezing two fingers which bring up the screen as shown here. I was able to add that little clock, but it's not the same. The main Clock app has no Settings; the phone's main Settings>Display has no Clock to set up. How might I restore that nice big text clock and date?
