Volume goes to zero

I've a two year old J7 Star where the volume goes to zero for phone, media, everthing all by itself. This makes the phone somewhat useless for staying in touch or streaming.

I thought it was the volume switch and just had that replaced for $60+, but it still does it.

I carry the phone in my rear pants pocket - the tech said the old switch had minor rust issues.

I'm at my wit's end here.

Is it possible I have some sort of virus whacking this thing? I'm running a Malwarebytes scan now.

Just I just do a factory reset? That's kind of where I am headed.

Help Samsung Alarm Clock/Timer/Stopwatch on Xiaomi?

I recently purchased a Xiaomi Note 8 Pro and quickly discovered that its stock alarm clock/timer/stopwatch app is not nearly as good or convenient to use as the stock app on my old Samsung Galaxy S5. Is there any way to copy the app from my Samsung to the Xiaomi?

Alternatively, does anyone know of a similar free or inexpensive app that works like the Samsung? I've tried a few from the Play Store, but so far all have disappointed in one way or another.

These are the features I particularly like in the Samsung app.
* Individually configurable snooze per alarm
* Smart Alarm that starts at low volume and gradually increases
* Easy to set alarm and timer times to individual minutes rather than choosing x-minute intervals
* Includes world clocks for different time zones
* Clean, simple, straightforward interface

Thanks

Help Snap a photo from lock screen by button press?

Just got a Moto G8 Power (which I believe is the same as Moto G Power, outside the US?).

The device itself seems pretty good considering the price, but the focus on gestures annoys me. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer pressing buttons or a touch screen.

On most other phones I've had, there's been an option to double press the volume/power/whatever button to quickly open the camera and snap a photo when the device is locked. On the Moto G8 Power, it seems the only option is some kind of twisting motion (which obviously won't snap a photo, just open the camera). I know I can open the camera app from the bottom right corner, but it would be nice to be able to quickly snap a photo when wearing gloves for example.

Is there any way to enable double pressing the volume/power button to use the camera from the lock screen? I've looked through the settings but couldn't find anything. Btw, is it just me, or are the settings on this phone more disorganized than usual? Even the search function seems a bit hit-ot-miss when searching for settings?

wierd video playing glitch

Hey all, wonder if anyone has any suggestions

when playing some videos (youtube so far) but not all videos my tablet (android 10) is doing something rather odd.
The video itself (not the surroundings in window mode) will every couple of seconds "jump" moving or resizing a little bit and the colours invert (red to blue) for a split second. It does this from the very beginning, it doesn't effect outside the video, I checked the same video on other devices its definitely the tablet, and its not all videos (less than half). None of the video settings in youtube made any difference. No knock on effects like slow down or effects on sound.

Any ideas?

Introduction

Hi,

I'm very new to Android based devices and recently bought a Lenovo Tab M0 plus. I got it to give me some technical interest to keep my poor old brain going, it may be too late some would say.

Initially I worked as an electronics development engineer and after after about 10 years moved into IT support. I then went to work as a field service engineer for a very big computer company. I predominantly worked on hugely expensive UNIX systems and gradually migrated to Intel base products as the market changed.

I retired 4 years ago and have been tinkering with PCs, GPS devices and RC models. I have gotten to grips with Windows 10 and recently built a stupidy fast PC that can boot from cold in about 10 seconds. I sit there waiting for it to do something only to realise that I've blinked and missed it.

I have recently started dabbling with Android devices. I'm more interested in the technical aspects than actually using them. So be prepared for some obscure technical questions.

Need help with Android / Java development

Good afternoon, members of the forum. I have an application, with MainActivity, which starts a service when the application starts. The service sends a POST request to the server every 10 seconds. Everything is fine, requests are received, but only before the phone screen is locked. If the screen is locked, the service seems to stop completely, and when the screen is unlocked, the service resumes and requests start being sent. What could be the problem and how to solve it? Thanks in advance
Android Studio, Java.

In addition to the classic mode there is another game mode, the endless tower with missions to complete in order to earn daily rewards.

ARCORE send realtime data (socket)

Hi guys, I'm trying to send in realtime "camera.getPose()" data from arcore by a socket to a server, I'm trying to do it on onDrawFrame(SampleRender render) event, I'm working with the HelloAR Java demo from arcore official site, If I send to screen the camera.getPose() it works but if I send them to a socket, the app crashes, maybe to much connections by second on onDrawFrame?, what do I must do? any advise?

Thanks a lot in advance.
