I use my phone a lot as a navigation device in the mountains. But it's not great in many ways, particularly if it's wet or when I get sweaty.

I have a Sony zx2 I think.

I'm looking for settings/apps/hints about the following:

Any suggestions for using the touchscreen when wet? For example, when I'm out for a long run, I end up soaking in sweat, so everything is wet, and I can't control the touchscreen. Often my phone does its own thing in my pocket because that's damp too. Worst is when it decides to turn down screen brightness to the minimum, which is a nightmare when outside.

Is there a way of locking apps so they don't run at all until I unlock them? Usually I only want my navigation and map apps, messenger and my camera to function. I'm not interested in anything else and I don't want anything else draining my battery.

Alternatively, can I create a user mode where I can specify which apps can work?

i'm relatively new to android. i mastered the real basics and now want to go on to game programming that's why i bought this book. the problem is when i compile the project i get no errors, but when i try to start one of the activities that show simple opengl es 1.0 examples it crashes. now i have no idea how to debug this kind of error (or generally debug an android app, when i select debug nothing happens). i have the hole project saved with this thread. i don't know why he does not start the activities but crashes, i hope one of you guys can help me.

Well, it looks as if my LG X Charge friend is going to end up with a cricket icon, that being the cheapest phone available. There was a $25 "upgrade" (downgrade) fee, which shows how much they value a loyal customer who has been with them pretty much since they began. He already doesn't like the thing, and I can't blame him. There's hardly anything on it except the dreaded googoo, and the keyboard sucks. It doesn't even have numbers on the main "page" of it. I guess it would be OK for him until he can afford something better, but he's balking. He wanted a phone for less though still on cricket. The icon cost almost 100 with the case and screen protector, which he probably does need. I thought cricket phones were available at the supermarket. They do have those payment cards, but the only devices they had were for tracfone and something I had never heard of, total maybe? At least they were cheap, about 30 each. Should I persuade him to keep the icon for now and switch later? He can't afford squat right now. (Welcome to the club.) By the way, cricket also had a Samsung A10E (?). Is that worth it?

i have had two losses in this year, first i left the phone in the train, i luckily i had all my important data iin the pone and that was secured... all good there...

then 5 month later i broke my phone, the phone was instantly dead, but i saved most of my data because it was all in my sd card... it is more convenient for me to have the data in the sd card, but what happen if i loose, the phone could be secured but the card can be extracted and someone could steal my information, then i heard about encrypting the SD card,,, what i have heard is that encrypt the card so only my phone can read it.... and if the phone is locked, nobody could read what i have in my sd card even if using a card reader for a computer, RIGHT?

but what if my phone gets broken and i need to recover my data from an encrypted sd card?


also, is it true that having a encrypted sd card makes the data reading from the phone slower?, and installed apps in the card slow too

Since I like Android 10's emoji far better than FB's own emoji I'd like to know how I can force the display of system emoji in the Facebook app. The iOS version of the Facebook app shows the iOS emoji so I think something like that should be possible in Android as well.

I have AirPods2 but when Im connecting them to my Xiaomi redmi note 8, the volume turnes realy low.
I tried the "disable absoulte volume" on the develpoer options but it didnt work/
I saw on YouTube a video which says to turn on "sync audio on the bluetooth advanced settings" but I didnt have bluetooth advanced settings on my Xiaomi redmi note 8....

Check out the screen shots yourself. Don't take my word on it. Those are 4 port numbers with no information on them that ive just posted with what appears to be Google accessing them.

Its my belief all the weird occrances on all android devices have to do with these vulnerabilities.

I had an ip address local to me accessing 3 different ports with 5 numbers each all three unassigned and no known vulnerabilities

Good day! I was hoping that you could help me with my problem.

So my phone keeps on restarting whenever I turn on my data connection and whenever I connect to the wifi. I've already done some research about this and it all landed on the same answer: Factory reset. Now, I've already done it for, like, four times already.
Sure enough, my phone would get better after the reset and no restarting would happen. But then, after a few days, my phone would return to its crazy, restarting state.
I was hoping that maybe you guys could give me advices that would help. Please, please, please...

A family member has a Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna. Just six months after the one-year warranty expired, her phone is now a paperweight. All calls are broken up and garbled on both sides - both her side and the other parties' sides - regardless of who initiated the call.

There is a Samsung Galaxy J3 Orbit on sale. If the user interface / screen presentation is very similar to the J3 Luna, I would get this phone for her (the Orbit runs Android release 8, the Luna release 7). She is not technically inclined and this would obviate the learning curve for a different phone (e.g. the LG Premier Pro LTE), though my preference is not to get another Samsung junk phone (their quality has really gone downhill - 18 months and useless!).

Is anyone familiar with how similar the Luna and Orbit are ?

I have a FireTV Gen 2 box. Many YouTubers are saying this can be done on the stick or box.

For me, it either says “connection failed” or gets stuck on the “Connecting to (IP address here) Please Make sure the target device has network ADB enabled. You may need to except a prompt on the target device if you are connecting to it for the first time from this device.”

No option to accept pops up.

I have enabled “ ADB debugging“, “ Apps from unknown sources“, and “USB debugging”.

I’m using the IP address from the about menu.

Due to the recent controversy with the TikTok Make Your Day app, I thought I'd have a look at it to see what it has to offer before the president bans it.

I selected what I understood was "Science and ..." and was scrolling through the offerings looking for something scientific. There began several profane sayings on screen, such as the full "F you Henny!", so I immediately closed the app and was forever done with it.

Any attempt to uninstall the app from the phone meets with failure. I was able to remove the app icon from the desktop, but there is an exclamation-mark notification stating " ! Uninstalling TikTok unsuccessful".

Do I have to restore factory settings and rebuild the phone as I know it in order to get rid of TikTok, or is there an easier way, please. I very much regret my choice to install this app.

I have a Huawei Mate 10 Pro and broke my screen a few days ago and gave it to a shop.

I'm pretty sure the guy didn't replace my screen with an official one cause I now have problems with my speaker (low sound), my mic (apparently it's like i'm in a cave) and my touch screen sensitivity is pretty bad.

I was wondering, is there an app or a way to find out if my screen is official ? Run tests or somethings and compare it to the Huawei specifications ?

Every morning I get the error message that I had too many attempts to use facial or fingerprints to unlock and have to use my pin.

That's not a problem, but I can't figure out the reason for the message. The phone is sitting on my night stand, and I haven't touched it all night.

I used web share of shareit app to transfer ' backup' folder to PC

but when i looked for the backup in pc,there was a 'backup.zip' file instead of 'backup' folder.
When i extracted that zip all the files were converted to 0kb folders.

I triee winrar to repair zip but did'nt worked.

I did the same with another version of windows from another pc and phone and the same error occurred .looks like the problem is with shareit app

I feel like I stuffed it, but maybe there's someone who can help.
Installed Evolution X rom and then went back to stock for various reasons, all fine.
Later I wanted to go back to EvoX rom but it had issues, so I tried flashing the stock rom but it didn't work, so I tried factory reset, and it had errors.

Greetings. I've recently encountered a problem while trying to transfer my files to PC.

I had HiSuite on my phone and my PC installed. When I connected my phone and my PC, HiSuite disappeared from my phone. HiSuite on PC told me that HiSuite will be installed on my phone, so I clicked "Ok" and few seconds later it told me that installation has failed.

I tried fixing this by turning off USB debugging, reinstalling HiSuite on my phone and on my PC and restarting my phone and my PC. None of these solutions worked.

By the way, HiSuite on PC was updated to 10.1.0.550_OVE and it seems that it tried to install this version on my phone too.

Does anybody have a solution?

3 times in the last 2 months, my A80 locked up. The little reset thingy didn't work.
I got frustrated and threw it down somewhere. Only to go back later, showing that it had restarted.

It as been a struggle to tune my Note 10+ to the way I like my phones and one of the preferences is a universally dark (preferably black) theme. I used Substratum on my previous, rooted, phones.

Hex was a godsend and didn't seem to need nearly the babysitting that Substratum did with constant updates to overlays.

Until today.

Yesterday or the day before I had clicked on app updates from the Play Store and nothing had happened but I brished it off as I was busy. Today I had the same and got a crash report. Familiar with these from SubStra I set about regenerating the theme in Hex. Initially it fixed Google Play Store but was the stock grey night theme, not the full black so after everything updated I tried again.
Galaxy themes crashed. On a new reboot changes had reverted and I was seeing white background notifications.There was no going back as to remove the theme/overlays that were crashing Galaxy Themes I needed Galaxy Themes. Various Hex troubleshooting and app data/cache resets were no help.

So.. Safe mode. OK, in safe mode you cannot change the theme but that does not matter because, to my dismay, I found that safe mode doesn't just reset absolutely everything in safe mode, when you come out of it those resets stick to non-safe. Wallpaper gone, default keybboard reset, default launcher reset, theme default (OK, that I wanted).

Anyway. I could have just dropped in and out of safe I think to reset the theme and with Galaxy Themes working again I was able to successfully reapply my Hex theme and then start stitching my preferred environment back together in a visually comfortable theme.

Pretty certain I did somethign wrong in the initial re-apply to get Play Store working and picked the wrong High_contrast, or missed a reboot. I had a nagging feel in the back of my head throughout the repair.

Highlights the importance of not missing any steps in a Hex theme install but also a way out, albeit an annoying one, if follks do end up in a catch 22 with G Themes.

On my LG Stylo 3 I installed a couple of countdown apps and, not sure if related, but since then I've been getting this "topreports.news" popup when I lock my phone. It looks like the web browser that opens up when you tap a link in a message in Gmail, where tapping on the 3-dot menu on the top right shows "Open in Chrome" at the bottom of the menu. It also gets saved in Chrome history as "taboola". If I tap "recent apps" it won't show in the recent apps screen, which has made it so I can't see what app is doing this. How can I find what it is and get rid of it?
