how to eject/umount USB stick

I have two firesticks (2nd gen and a 4K) with both using a OTG power Y cable.

I can access the USB thumbdrive on both and access the files.

But I can not find a way to safely eject or unmount the thumbdrive.

If I unplug the drive I get an error message saying to go to my firetv/settings/storage and select USB to eject.
But there is no USB listed in any settings menu

If I plug the thumbdrive into the computer I get an error and it scans and fixes it.

How can I safely remove the USB drive from the firestick?

Notification tone - how to prevent while listening to Bluetooth speaker?

As per the title really. I understand the note 10 plus has a dual Bluetooth channel so this should be possible but I cannot figure out how to get this working.

Basically when I am streaming music to my Bluetooth speaker or any source for that matter, how do I prevent notification tones such as sms WhatsApp low battery etc from being heard on the speaker? I only want music to be heard on the bluetooth speaker.

Thank you in advance

Liam

Dear all,

I have an idea for an app and wondered whether
there are developers here.

I wanted to create the app myself,
but I'm a bit reluctant on the advertising-part.

The app is really simple:

As a user you can create a list of the apps you really like.

The list is populated with a personal selection from the apps installed.
If you uninstall an app the app remains in the list (unless you unselect it).
(This way you can add all the apps in your play-library if you have some time to waste.)

You can share your personal list (people can follow you).

And it's possible to install apps from the people you follow via the app store.

(I did some thinking about which name to use,
since I'm not a native English speaker
some apps are translated,
so you would need to crawl the English name from the play store
(unless you would like to add localisation).)

Those lists are synced with a server,
this is really simple, just 4 tables
and with spring boot and rest services this should not be a pain.

You can also publish your Apps Followers account on social media.
(you can do so with android devices as of from 6.0,
you can possibly set the minSDK version to a lower value
to handle users on older devices that only would want to follow.)

The challenge (if this would be a hit) would be a to high number of users,
but for the first version you could limit the number of initial users
to 100.000,
any server can handle that load (since the calls are infrequent)
and whenever you hit the 100.000 limit you can
think and plan load balanced and clustered solutions.

I think I'm not alone in wanting the app (see poll below).

There are plenty of apps where you can share your apps,
but most of them require people being in your vicinity,
you also don't have the follow mechanic
and sharing multiple apps is cumbersome.

Water damage

So I had this brilliant idea of trying to fix water logged phone... And I'm stuck. Phone spent 20min in washing machine so I was a bit sceptical about fixing it but decided to give a shot, stripped it down, washed pcb's in ultrasonic cleaner, changed battery and all I got is screen flicker once in a while while on charging. all contacts looks nice and fresh, no corrosion. any suggestions what else can be tested diagnosed before I jump into buying new screen?

I am just learning how to do it so please don't go too hard on me

MP3's/WMA's with artwork in file folder -artwork doesn't show on my phone

Hi guys,

I just bought a Samsung S20Plus and am trying to get settled on it with my music etc, I've moved everything over which is a mixture of MP3 and WMA etc, 90% of the music files have artwork attached and when you view the individual track thumbnails in the medium setting, the artwork is clearly visible. However when I move them to my new S20Plus about 10% of the artwork is actually carried over. Is this a file format issue? I tried different music playing apps and the same result occurred.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks

Help Android Hotspot Tethering Issues>>>

So, I'm trying to tether my Acer Chromebook to my mobile phone using 4G data connection. My laptop shows connected with a strong signal but I have no internet on it. My phone shows that my Chromebook is connected. It makes no sense b/c both devices show they are connected with a strong signal. My phone is an LG X Charge android OS. What could be the problem?? Thanks!!!

Need some help finding lost files!

I really need some help please. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ and I just connected a USB drive to it. I was trying to move some very precious family videos and photos. I clicked move here and they seemed to move okay. I plugged the device (usb drive) into a Windows computer which said it had errors and it needed to scan and fix and repair. I allowed it to do that and even though other files I have moved earlier are there...the new ones are not but the folders I created are...just empty . Is there any place on the Android I can find those files because now in my gallery there are missing as well. I am so depressed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to verify security on smartphone email

I included this in another topic (DUO privacy) but perhaps it's more appropriate to ask this question separately in its own topic. I am a "newbie" using smartphones and don't have a good feeling about its security nor the security of what is sent to/from it. (I use Avast but that addresses a different issue). How can one tell what is safe on a smartphone accessed website or email? I realize this is a rather broad question to pose here - the indications of what looks right or not are possibly too open-ended - but whatever information, direction and experience I can receive here will be helpful.

Just as one example, my doctor's office sent a gmail with a link to a website wanting confidential information to set up my patient portal with that doctor. But on a computer, I would never follow a link in an email, and then enter confidential personal information on that site.

Also, is there someplace I can check for requisite Android security patches? Nothing seems to have been updated on my phone. Should I check for them and then download them and if so, how do I do that?
