Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 5.3, and more revealed Phones

Global has clarified that the Nokia 8.3 5G and Nokia 5.3 won’t carry the Android One branding, but will offer the same two years of OS updates and three years of security patches as other Nokia smartphones.

It’s certainly a strange move and one that doesn’t reflect wonderfully on the Android One program. Google’s initiative already had very few partners on board, with Motorola and Xiaomi the only other major players.

Nokia 8.3 5G
The most premium of these new handsets is the Nokia 8.3 5G. As the name alludes, this smartphone is the first 5G-capable Nokia device. Nokia claims it’s also the first global 5G smartphone with support for all global 5G networks. That means it has a higher number of 5G radio bands than any phone available now.

The Nokia 8.3 5G touts a 2,400 x 1,080 6.81-inch display, and it can scale SDR content to HDR. The chassis features an aluminum frame sandwiched by glass around the front and back. It comes with the Snapdragon 765G, 6 or 8GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB of expandable storage, a 4,500mAh battery, and Android 10 under the hood.

Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3, and Nokia 5310

The other three new Nokia handsets may not be as premium as the 8.3 5G, but they still offer quite a bit of value for the price.

The Nokia 5.3 features the Snapdragon 665 SoC, a 1,600 x 720 6.55-inch display, up to 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of expandable storage, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also touts a 4,000mAh battery, a rear quad-camera setup, and the chassis looks quite similar to the Nokia 8.3 5G. It will be available this April for only €189 (~$204)

Help from a confirmed person for a very small change, PLZ

Hello,

I'm looking for a Java Android developer for a modification which seems very simple to me, remove a flag activation / deactivation of a button.
I say simple but I know nothing about it in android java and modifying one or more smali files seems far from my C++.

I would like to discuss it with supporting sources in MP, whether you take a look at my idea and tell me if the modification is actually simple or if I am grossly mistaken.
And if it's simple, explain to me what to do.

At the moment, i've understood how decompile and recompile and that works !
I can switch the source code to java (with jadx).

Thanks for reading me.
Patrick.

S9+ Auto Record Video Upon Camera App Launch

I have a S9+ I want to use as a helmet cam for sports (I have another main phone, don't worry) and I have it set to 1080P 60FPS but my only problem is Samsung has limited it to film for only 10 minutes at a time for that and then it stops. I'm not going to be able to stop in the middle of sports and take off the helmet to press record again. This is where tasker comes into play. I just have no idea how to use it. How do I set it up to where it'll automatically record again once those 10 minutes are up? Thank you!

Help [Solved - 'system' taking up over half of storage]

Hello all.

Today I noticed my internal storage was getting low and went on a cache-clearing/media-transferring spree. I lowered my app, music, and picture storage significantly. At the beginning, the "System" storage was 11 GB. Now, just an hour later, it's 17 GB, which is more than half of my storage space.

How can I make it go back down? Also, less important, but why did it go up like that?

EDIT: Never mind. I restarted it and now it's fine.

Possible to set unlock button and lock sound?

Greetings,
I just upgraded from my S8 to S20 ultra and I wanted to set a couple things that I liked about my S8. First was how I unlocked my S8. S8 didnt have any home button like S20 but I was able to press and feel a pulse as if there was a button and that would unlock my phone. Does the S20 ultra have something like that. Not to be confused with the fingerprint unlock feature as while its similar, not really the same. (also i understand that fingerprint is added security, but i prefer that S8 "home button" unlock more)

Also when I press the lock button on my S8 it makes a sound. I couldnt find any setting on my ultra that lets me add a sound when pressing the lock button.

Thank you!

Taking and Ending Calls - S20 Ultra

I had some minor hiccups in transferring my iPhone data to the S20 Ultra (i.e. didn't put the SD Card in, first, and instead of doing a FDR, I just re-did the Smart Switch), but I've been having problems (powered off, restarted, etc.) to where I cannot answer a call, make a call, end a call for about 15s into a call.

For example, I can get called for a conference call, hit answer, the screen turns grey and as I'm being prompted to "Hit 1" to dial in, I can't touch it for 15-20s and the same is when a call ends, the call will hang up, but I can't back out, use the Power Off button, etc.

Any thoughts? Too much bloatware (sp?)?

Thanks,
Drew

Reviews A little warning regarding the Z flip screen.

I have absolutely no regrets buying the Z flip given its form factor and general performance. I also figured that keeping the screen closed with a decent case gave me as good protection as my galaxy S 10+ with the screen was always exposed.
Unfortunately, while examining the phone at an angle with the screen off, I noticed a smudge on the upper right-hand side of the screen. Cleaning the screen did not remove this very slight smudge. I then realized that it was the precise location of the edge screen "bar". Clearly, frequent usage of the edge screen feature, using just my finger was creating this smudge. Clearly the surface of the edge screen is not as robust as the galaxy S 10+ and users need to be aware of this.
Rather than wait, I promptly ordered a galaxy Z flip screen protector, without investigating the brand, and have been using that for the last several days. It seems to fit well, adhere well and is as sensitive as the naked screen. However time will tell.

Accessing Bluetooth data

Hi all

The device is running Android Lolipop and my question regards accessing device hardware data from an application, this should be straightforward but initial information suggest otherwise. If the devices Bluetooth receiver is paired with a bluetooth transmitter then why would you not use this data directly in an application and instead use another program to " spoof your location" just to provide location services with mock locations so it can use the Bluetooth data provided?

This seems a long winded way of handling data and you risk the data being altered or some loss as it is passed through these other programs. In my case I have a Ublox GPS receiver that transmits location data as an NMEA stream using Bluetooth, now we have two approaches. Application A allows the user to select the data source, one being Bluetooth and this works with location services turned off which greatly helps battery life. Now Application B can only use Location services which means either using the devices internal GPS or going down the so called spoofing route to basically fool it as a get around.

My question is why would anyone develope an application and not use the bluetooth receiver directly? I have thought about this and can only conclude that it must be something to do with the Android OS but it can and has been done so why take the less efficient method? Is it such a complicated task that some developers just use location services to keep it simple.

When I used to program control systems in C we could include different libraries into our code and these provided added functionality, so if I needed a CAN interface or SPI the functionality was there but I don't believe Java uses because it is not processor specific.

thanks Roy

Hello all

Hi everyone

I am looking into this Android software but not to deeply as my mind is too conditioned to using processor specific code written in C and plus I am nearing retirement. The areas I have worked in were automotive ngine management and industrial control and automation. My areas of interest now regarding Android devices is GNSS and cartography.

all the best Roy

Apps not updating from playstore

In the recent past i've had issues with the facebook app downloading from the playstore. Yesterday i got a notification facebook messenger needed and update.
