I have seen all system wide apps ( Gmail, Google Photos etc. ) in dark mode with android 10 except the two "Google search app" and "Google assistant app".

How to set these two apps in dark mode ?

Went to my local phone place today and found a not so helpful sales person (after waiting 30 minutes). I went in expecting to walk out with a new Pixel 3A ($10 a month)...but since she wasn't any help I walked out with more questions than answers.

1st she wasn't very keen on the Google phones saying if I were going Android I should only consider Samsung phones. I currently have a S7 Edge that's been great since it came out until the camera stopped working about 10 days ago.

Since she was pushing the Samsungs I asked her what the difference was between the Samsung phones: A50 ($14.50 a month), A10e ($7.50 a month), and A20 ($10 a month). She said there really wasn't any difference between the three. Really? One phone is twice as much as the other but there is no difference? Weird.

After reading more and more reviews I'm still convinced the Pixel 3A is superior to all of those!

My question is: is the 3A XL too large for the front pocket of a pair of Docker style pants once a case is put on the phone? (trying to decide between the 3A and the 3A XL)

I got a json parser running in AS with an AVD based on the example at:https://www.tutorialspoint.com/android/android_json_parser.htm
The code attempts to access json data at:"http://api.androidhive.info/contacts/
The resulting response in Logcat in Studio gives:

However when I access the URL using Chrome I get the proper Json data:
I eventually used Xampp to make a local server and I accessed the jason as a local file :http://10.0.2.2/mydocs/test_data.json
This worked fine.
My question is, why would the code running on AS with an AVD return the above response, but an access to the url using a browser gets the json data fine?

Got the update last night and now there is an extra button/row at the bottom of my keyboard (no matter which keyboard I choose to use). It takes up a lot of space and is not needed, but I cannot figure out how to remove it. Anyone know how to remove it?

At Developer.Android.com, I've been reading, practicing and trying to learn about Android development. In working with some built-in activity resources available through the Android Studio, I've been trying to learn how to use and code multiple tab activities. I'm sure there is a good resource for these but I just hadn't found it yet.

My question(s):
What is the purpose of PageViewModel class? I assume I build out each UI tab through it's corresponding XML and JAVA class files, but I'm unclear on how I should use the PageViewModel class. It appears that is simply manages the calls to the separate tabs (fragments) and I leave it alone.

The built-in example I have has a "Live Data" feature... I'm not sure if that is something I need or not?

I just replaced my s4 with a s4 which is purchased. It has come with version 5.0.1. Some of my apps I have used in the past say my device is not compatible. At least one says I have to have at least 6.0 installed. How do I go frojm 5.01 to something higher. My settings say device is up to date.

Sorry for bein the only one on the planet that doesn't know, but is there anyway to date stamp pics taken with the stock camera app? I hate to download 3rd party apps, but if I must, will my camera still have the 13mp resolution? Any suggestions for a 3rd party app if needed? TIA

Really often Gboard suggests email addresses when I am starting to type my name. Unfortunately it is never proposing my Yahoo email (name_secondname@yahoo.de). I have no idea how to add this email address so that it is proposed next time? Adding it manually to the dictionary in Settings did not help.
Is it possible that there is a problem with the underline in my email?

When I browse the Amazon Drive web and then click the link "Get the Apps", it will navigate to the web page about Amazon Photos app downloading. Check the screenshots as below.


So now, I wonder if Amazon Drive app is the same as Amazon Photos app.

my Grandchild downloaded an app on his Samsung tablet but now we can do nothing on the screen the app just re appears. We can’t even switch the tablet off and we only get two screens one from the top where we put on the data and Bluetooth etc, nothing happens the downloaded app just returns.

I am using 3.5.3 and was wanting to enable the "Apply Code Changes" - (it is greyed out.) the popup message reads: "apply code changes disabled incompatible device api level"
My compile Sdk version is: 28(API 28: Android 9.0 {Pie))
My build tools version is 29.0.2
Is the problem that I need Sdk version 29 to match the build tools version ?

I have downloaded like 10 apps why does it say I have 250 and can I get rid of and block whoever is doin it?

My Note8 is stuck in a Boot Loop after (a) displaying warnings about moisture in the USB charging port and (b) complete battery drain. When I put the phone on a wireless charger it immediately showed the Samsung logo and then went into a boot loop.

Attempting the couple of button-combo presses I've found does not stop the loop, which continues until the battery drains again (if I remove it from the wireless charger)

Over a year ago the phone spent several minutes in salt water. After that it had problems with cellular internet connection for a few weeks but then got better. Recently I've had some moisture warnings so I just haven't used the charging port.

I'd love to find a way to get the phone out of the boot loop, even if just to limp along until I get back home next week and can hopefully get the phone replaced under insurance.

Any advice?

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S9+ on Verizon. OS is Android 9 Pie and phone just installed this update 2 days ago: G965USQS7CSK5

Since the update there are now no notifications from any of my 300+ apps (over half of which are bundled) in the status bar. App icon buttons on the home screen still get icon badges with the number of waiting notifications, but nothing in the status bar or when I swipe down. Messages have always been spotty, sometimes 20 SMS will come through all at once and the icon badge for that is hit and miss too.

I saw an older post someone mentioned lock screen notifications having a setting about hiding sensitive data, which was not one of the options in my status bar menu.

Any ideas out there?

I have some objects animating from the bottom of the screen to the top I need to detect when the objects reach the top of the screen. I can detect objects animating from the top of the screen to the bottom by polling the y cooridinate but I can't do the same in the oppisite direction its as though coordinate 0 doesn't exsist. I know this is a bit abstract but I'm hoping somebody will set it up in their IDE and help me figure out a good solution to detect when an object hits the top of the screen when animating from bottom to top.

Hi I am using Motorola one power most of the time my phone will be on vibrate mode.
the problem is the audio keeps playing while getting incoming call (YouTube as well play music )
Then whats the use of phone its not serving purpose of phone it should give priority to the calls
it should puse the music. its problem with only android one devices not with the motorola stock android (ex Moto G5splus/ motog6).

Please fix the issue ASAP

Ever since my android upgrade to 9 my phone has ran like crap. Some of my apps dont agree with it, ive noticed the battery performance isnt the same and the phone also runs slower. So I would like to roll back. As far as I know there isnt a simple way to do this. I did a google search on "how to downgrade LG G6 android 9 to 8." and didnt find anything helpful. I would really like to complete this task with some help.

My current phones software is vs98830a and my network is Verizon.

I put up my phone one morning for a few hours and left it on when i pulled it back out i saw the android recovery screen and when i went to the logs it said

Here I am in hospital for the second time in my life.

The first time was way back in 1966 when I had an argument with the back-end of a coal wagon whilst riding to work on my Triumph T90 motorcycle. I lost!! and ended up spending 5 days in hospital with two cracked ribs and a fractured wrist, and 6 weeks off work.

Here I am again, some 54 years later, second night in hospital and just a tad more serious than the first visit. Having been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer about 5 weeks ago, the last six days barely able to eat or drink anything and becoming severely dehydrated, ending up on Tuesday night at the end of an IV drip feed.

Still on the drip feed and hoping to have what they call a 'stent' inserted later today which should enable me to eat and drink normally, at home , to get some weight back to continue the fight.

Still, at 72, I guess I've been somewhat lucky considering I'm still riding a motorcycle and I did smoke from the age of 12 until I stopped in 1992.

I guess you could say both visits are down to me!!!!! but what the hell - that's life......
