Disassembling a program?

Hello,

Apologies if this is a stupid question.

Back in the day (we're talking 1982 and the days of gthe Sinclair Spectrum), you used to be able to buy what was called a "disassembler".

You loaded it and then loaded the program in question and you had the ability to effectively reverse engineer the code. I used it to successfully prove that a commercial backgammon program was manipulating the dice rolls.

Same scenario today; there's a backgammon program that's cheating like nobody's business, the developer (naturally enough) is acting purer than an angel's fart so I need to rip his source code apart and point out to him the error of his ways. Repent or I'll name and shame.

So can you do that sort of thing with an Android app.

Thanks for reading and for any responses.

S9+ Charging Hot

I have a fast-charging wall wart for this phone. It consistently heats up when charging. It doesn't charge for more than 5-10 minutes or so before it's hot to the touch. The phone itself beeps, shows the charge percentage back a couple points and starts charging again. I unplug the charger and separate the prong portion from the USB part and let it cool off and try again.

This can't be normal. Is it a faulty charger? Bad phone? It's a used phone I got about two months ago from my phone carrier and the charger came with it.

How To Stop Withheld/Private & Unknown Numbers Calling You

Hi All,

basically this is probably a bit of a thick question so please bear with me!

I was curious to know if there's a way of stopping private, withheld or unknown numbers from calling your phone without having to put all of your incoming calls on divert???

For the past few weeks I've been receiving calls from an unknown number that I suspect is more than likely my ex partner who got my number off a mutual friend of ours who i'd asked not to give my number out with my permission but did so anyway.

I realise it's a total shot in the dark but thought i'd ask anyway.

Cheers
Luke

I would like to do a filter on only ht==176, but I cant found reference on it and some of it maybe difference from my coding pattern, anyone can help me on this topic ?

Query query=reff.child("Member").orderByChild("ht").equalTo("176");
query.addListenerForSingleValueEvent(new ValueEventListener() {
@override
public void onDataChange(@NonNull DataSnapshot dataSnapshot) {
String value = (String) dataSnapshot.getValue();
textView_result.setText(editText_name.toString());
}

@override
public void onCancelled(@NonNull DatabaseError databaseError) {

}
});

Help How to get a TP-Link TL-WN725N working on Android X86

Wifi adapter: TP-Link TL-WN725N
Laptop: Acer Aspire ONE w/ Celeron N3060/2gbDDR3/32gbEMMC

I acquired this netbook (for free!) with a broken M.2 slot, so the internal wifi card would not work. I bought a very cheap wifi adapter on amazon since It was advertised as Linux/Mac/Win compatable.

This wifi adapter worked on Windows 10, and then all of the Linux distros I have thrown at it, albeit slowly. Now I have installed Android X86 onto this netbook and my TP-Link wifi adapter is not recognized at all.

TP-Link has no driver for Android and when I asked them, they said my wifi adapter is not Android compatable.

Anyone have a driver for it or another way to get it working. There are Linux drivers available, not sure they will work.

Malware/MitM/remote root that survives reset & new phone?

So this is sort of an ongoing issue I've had for a while. Now that I think back my (Cricket BL locked) Moto G7 Supra(Power) running unrooted Android 9 has been compromised for a while. It started out small and rather unnoticeable, a freeze here, a couple ads there. I didn't really notice or put two and two together at first.

Then maybe 6 weeks ago or so things started to ramp up almost exponentially. I noticed what seemed to be more ads, then came Chrome reverting to an earlier version 53, certificates coming across as legitimately signed but to incorrect domains, shortly thereafter more and more apps began disappearing from the home screen and app drawer, only to reappear like nothing had happened but I'd been logged out and they were all older versions and began updating themselves. Some apps/Android features flat out stopped working.

Now about two three weeks ago I noticed a couple times apps that would tell me I'm connected from Android 9.0 Pie, are saying I'm connected via 'Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow/AppleWebKit/Safari(version)/Chrome 53.x etc etc just completely wrong. First time I saw it I brushed it off, but it persisted and then came the disappearing act of my notifications despite everything in settings looking normal, I've nearly stopped receiving calls and texts, friends and family asking why I'm ignoring them when I didn't get anything, my data is through the roof, my bill is much higher even though I'm on Cricket's unlimited data plan.

I've lost access to my original Gmail account and with it nearly 8 years of contacts and info and one more after that I created, I performed a hard reset and it survived. I turned Auto sync after reset and backup off, turned off Find my Device, Google Pay, and 'Screen Lock Service's apps from Admin rights, tried reset again to no avail. Exhasutingly after that I just sent my phone in for a replacement to find the same issues again. Basically my entire phone and online presence has been owned.

At this point I need to flash my firmware back to stock I believe, I don't even know if that'll do it but it's the last card I have to play. And yet wouldn't take know, not only is my bootloader locked to Cricket, they won't give me the unlock code. Their website says they'll give it over after the Device you're using has been activated for 6 months. I've just replaced my old phone by warranty a week ago.

Not only that, my VPN log that I view in real time watching it speak with the net now tells me that CHILD_SA_android{1} establishes a connection with my phone for 31 million seconds before having to reauth, and my IP all of a sudden changes from the VPN version to something completely different? This is a tiny snippet from the log. I can get more just wanted to show the device that's changing my dns settings and setting up a proxy which is apparently cool with the VPN after it basically grabs a handshake with my phone.

Nov 2 03:34:12 15[NET] sending packet: from 10x.xxx.xx.xxx[41762] to 199.187.209.28[4500] (265 bytes)

I nearly forgot the app permissions. They're ridiculous, nearly every app I have now has some insane access, everything you'd normally expect all the way to detecting/making and recording/saving (I forget the terminology) phone calls and texts, receiving course and precise GPS regardless of my turning it off, read write all storage, detect and 'communicate with' other devices around me, the list goes on and on things I didn't even think were possible, I've not rooted my phone but it has complete root access.

This is much longer than I intended but I've Googled everything I can think of, I've reset my phone multiple times, called and went in to see Cricket, and even sent for a replacement phone and nothing had changed I'm at my wit's end, I could use some help before I throw this thing in a ditch and go completely analog and live in the woods Survivorman style. Thanks for reading and sticking with me to the end.

Help Pop up Ads

Help. I know I will get ads within aps, but just lakely, when my phone has been locked for a while, when I unlock it, I am presented with a pop up ad on the screen (see attached image). I've gone through the settings, and unchecked Google ads, but I can't have done it right, as I'm still getting them. I don't always get the X in the top corner either.

Problems With LG Tiger Pad LG-V480

I have an LG Tiger Pad LG-V480 that runs Android 5.0.2. Strange things are starting to happen on this tablet, such as:

* Google Maps works until the moment that I hit the "Start" button to begin a trip. At that point, Google Maps simply vaporizes and I am back at the desktop.

* Google Youtube will lose all of its "Downloaded" videos, without warning or error message.

What would this indicate about the tablet? Is the flash going corrupt? Is there an error log I can read to try to get more information, and how would I search through that to find the relevant messages?

Second Impressions

Ok, you guys and gals are over the crazy fascination with the new shiny Note 10+. I see a new phone in my future due to a hardware problem with my Sammy 8+. I'm looking for honest opinions now that the new has worn off a bit. I would enjoy the good as well as the bad things about the Note. I'm weighing my options.
The Note 10+ and the S10+ are both serious replacement options for me. I thank you in advance for your current reviews.

How to recover data while phone is boot looping

I am not an advanced android user, so I'm not even sure if what I'm about to ask makes a lot of sense.

I have an unlocked OnePlus 3T that is stuck in a boot loop. After booting, it will say "Factory Data Reset" after about 10 seconds and reboot into recovery mode. I tried both "wipe cache" and "reset system setting" but neither have stopped the boot looping. I also tried installing "Dr. Fone" on my PC, connecting my phone to PC via USB cable, and trying to use various different features while in the "Install from ADB" mode on my phone, but it can never seem to connect to my phone. I kind of gather that in order for the Dr. Fone thing to work I was supposed to have installed something before I had the issue? I'm pretty clueless with this stuff.

All I really want to do is make sure my pictures/videos are backed up before I do a factory reset, because for whatever reason I guess I never set up an auto-backup last time I reset my phone a few months ago. Is this possible to recover files without actually booting into phone?

Help Need help with running Youtube app on MeCool BB2 Pro Android 6.0 Tv-box

One day when starting Youtube app I got the message that I need to update the app and the next one was that the latest version is not compatible with the device anymore. So i intalled older version, menaged to open it, but now videos doesnt load at all, there are stuck at buffering forever.

I've tried installing couple of even older versions but it didnt help at all. Same thing happens in Chrome when I try to watch youtube via the website.
The built in update app says the device is already running on latest software.

Is there a way of using device with Android 6 to work with Youtube ? Some modified version of the app maybe ?

Also does youtube check server side which version of app is trying to access it, then and allows only latest clients as a form of forcing people to buy new gear ?

Thanks
