Google Play Store disappeared from Tab

I have a Galaxy Tab A 10.
I have never had a problem with it.
I don’t play games on it. I only use it to answer emails, work on my web site, and check Facebook.
I have only installed a few apps on it but they are just basic productivity apps.
Just recently my Google Play store has disappeared off from the Tab.
I don’t know why. I just uninstalled an app one day and went to reinstall it and notice that the Play Store was gone.
I went into my settings and verified that the play store was no longer on the Tab.

I tried logging into the Play Store on my PC’s browser and went to install and app.
I picked the app I wanted to install.
I picked my Tab SM-T580 from my devices drop down menu and clicked on install.
It gave me the message “will be installed on your device soon”.
I waited for a long time but it never got sent to my device.
I tried doing the same thing again and this time when I clicked on install I got a blank popup that only said “OK”.

I tried doing the same think with the browser on my Tab and I get the same results.

Has anyone else had this issue or know how I can resolve this and get the Play Store back on my Tab?

How to Turn off Swipe

I run with a Samsung Galaxy S9+ and AfterShokz headphones, listening to Amazon Music. Normally, I use face detection to unlock with a patter for backup (such as when too dark). I have SmartLock setup with the AfterShokz so the screen should be unlocked when connected. However, it still makes me swipe to unlock the screen.

I would like to be able to use voice commands for Amazon Music to tell Alexa what to play as I would like. AfterShokz has some music controls, but is limited. In order to tell Alexa what to play, the Amazon Music app must be open and the screen needs to be on. I can't just simply leave Amazon Music open, I need to take my phone out of the holster, swipe the screen to "unlock" it (even though SmartLock is setup!), and then can use voice... but by then I am holding my phone and using the screen anyway and my run has slowed or stopped.

I've tried turning on the On-body detection and Voice Match as well. What I found with Voice Match is that I can turn the screen on by saying "OK Google" and then I can immediately switch to an Amazon Music command "Alexa, play..." but that only works the first time because then Amazon Music is no longer open on the screen and won't accept voice commands anymore.

Are there any ideas to be able to use voice commands for Amazon Music / Alexa without swiping the screen every time?

GO SMS Pro Unable to Send MMS

I am using GO SMS Pro for my SMS messages on an older Android Samsung S4 phone. SMS works fine, but I am never able to send out images by MMS. I checked settings and I have the size set to 2M and the images that fail are always under 1M. I tried both the "legacy" and "system" settings, and both of these time out while trying to send. What would cause these failures and is there a workaround?

I understand that this may have something to do with "APN" settings on the phone, but how do I change APN settings? And why wouldn't a phone provided by Verizon already be set to use Verizon APN?

Firebase, messages, tokens, etc.

I'm wondering if anyone can point me to, or offer, a good overview of FIrebase messaging and the use of tokens and such.

I've been sending messages to my emulator for a few weeks using the token, but suddenly, yesterday, I got "Token retrieval failed without exception" and the emulator has no token. This has led me into a hole about refreshing tokens, saving and updating tokens, etc.

I can dig through everything I'm finding and will probably eventually understand what I need to do to make a truly seamless experience - but I'm hoping someone might have some information that will speed that process up a bit!

Thanks!

Help Fastboot commands freezing

When i try to install twrp with the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" nothing happens. It just does nothing and outputs nothing, I can't even terminate it with Ctrl+c. I have checked everything is right. My bootloader is unlocked and my phone (Poco F1) is connected to a usb 2 port. No fastboot commands are working, they all do the same. They just freeze my terminal and outputs nothing until i disconnect my phone. Then it outputs
Code:
Sending 'recovery' (31068 KB) FAILED (Write to device failed (No such device))
fastboot: error: Command failed
This happens to all fastboot commands i try. Does someone know what is happening? I use Arch btw.

First monthly update, Android 10

The October update is rolling out now.
Pleased to see that the list includes what sounds like a fix for the one issue that has bugged me, namely a memory leak (or something that behaves like one). For the first time in 2 years with this phone I've had to reboot every 1-2 weeks to restore performance. Hopefully this patch will put an end to that.

Apps Need a small programming favor.

I need a small favor. I work in an office, and over the past 11 years, I've taught myself to program in Autohotkeys and have developed dozens of programs that makes our office run faster and with fewer mistakes.

I need a simple Android based program that I could install on my phone that would allow me to do the following:
1. Enter an inventory item (using my barcode scanner that sends text followed by a line feed 'enter')
2. Have a number pad pop up where I can enter the number of items.
3. After collecting the data, the tab-delimited two column data could be sent to my desktop either via email, or direct access via a cable.

From there, I'd write the autohotkey program that would process the data.

I just know nothing about Java.

Would anyone out there be willing to write this for me? Based on my knowledge of writing in Autohotkeys, I can't imagine it being very hard.

Thank you for reading this. I hope you can help.

Android - Copy and Pasting Photo's - Can it be done?

I took some pictures with the Camera. I want to copy and paste them into some emails and some forums and some text messages.

I go to the photo.
I "press" and hold on the photo for a few seconds, and nothing pops up. I'm expecting a "copy/cut" button. Nothing happens.
So, I hit the three dots on the top right and there is a "Copy". I go in there and it asks me what album I want to copy. It won't copy the photo.
I can not find a way to just copy the photo to the clipboard.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

No one could prevent another ‘WannaCry-style’ attack, says DHS official

U.S. government may not be able to prevent another global cyberattack like WannaCry, a senior cybersecurity official has said.

Jeanette Manfra, the assistant director for cybersecurity for Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), said on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt SF that the 2017 WannaCry cyberattack, which saw hundreds of thousands of computers around the world infected with ransomware, was uniquely challenging because it spread so quickly.

recovery data -

Hello,

I use the beautiful application "adb " very powerful to uninstall unwanted app like google and Samsung
clip_image001.png
. But I use it too much. I uninstall all google application. And now my phone is unable to boot. only in the recovery menu.
So questions are:

  • How can I recover my data, if now I can't detect any more my device with adb ? There is another solution ? Another hand Samsung keys seems to detect my phone but I can't recover with it.
  • Do you think I can recover my phone with reinstall uninstalled package, and do you have link to learn what package is indispensable ?
  • The recovery boot proposes to reinitialize my phone, but specify we need a google account. can the recovery be done while I uninstall all google packages ? If I reinitialize my phone can I hope recover some data with tool like photorec ?
To doesn't start again :
  • Why some package is protected (Failure [DELETE_FAILED_DEVICE_POLICY_MANAGER]), if other package can be deleted with consequence for the system ?
Thanks :blushDroid:

///// FAIL....bluetooth

I am having trouble pairing an Android phone to some bluetooth headphones

Phone is Alcatel model A574BL

The phone says that Bluetooth is ON, but the headphones won't "pair" whatever that bull means.

Headphones are Jam model HX-HP420.

I know ZERO about technology.
Please answer as if you were speaking to an alien from outer space who has never seen a cell phone, has never seen headphones.

Help Samsung Secure Folder Perma-linked to Gmail?

So either Secure Folder is being a pain, or Google Play store is.

I linked my gmail account to my secure folder (hereby referred to as SF), but I then found that any app I downloaded from the Play Store (as opposed to using the Play Store app directly on my phone) was installed in the SF. My "regular cell" wasn't even an option to select to install the app there.

Because I didn't want this, and I was concerned about Removing The Account in SF deleting EVERYTHING on my cell, I instead uninstalled SF. But the problem is there. I've tried going into my Google account to make sure my device is there (my regular cell is, but the SF "device" is not.)

I acctached a second G-account, no go.

I tried reinstalling SF to see if maybe the g-account was still there and then trying to remove it, but it's (not surprisingly) not there. And I'm concerned about re-adding my G-account because I don't want the same thing to happen again.

Any ideas? And yes, I have tried turning my cell off and on again. :)

Can't make or receive calls without rebooting

My wife's phone has recently developed a problem where she cannot make or receive a call without rebooting the phone. We cannot figure out any pattern to this, and it has only started recently. It may not occur for several days, and then it may occur every other day. I am assuming that there is some change in the settings or some app that's causing a problem since it's only recently, but I cannot figure out what it might be.

I'm hoping someone has a solution.
