Accessories IR Remote codemaps/keymaps?

Greetings everyone!

I am trying to find where in Android, preferably in Pie, how to set/setup/change IR remote control codes and their respective keymaps. I love Android TV mini-desktops, have about a dozen of them, and they all come with the worst remote controls in the world. I have also used apps to try and capture remote codes but they will not capture from other remotes or even unassigned buttons on these cheesy Android mini-desktop remotes. Where are the keymaps and codemaps in Android for IR remote controls? It seems to have moved somewhere between Android 7 and 9, as 7 used a remote.conf file. Pie does not... I cannot find where or how to get these things changed.

Thank you
C-

App creator

Hello,
I've been searching to find a simple (no code) app creator to enter data on an android phone, that can then be exported into an excel spreadsheet (or similar). Preferably free, or low cost (for personal use). I'm getting a bit lost in online searching so was hoping someone could please point me in the right direction.
Any advice appreciated, thanks

Connects to WiFi (2.4 and 5GHz both) no Internet available

LG V20, ex-AT&T phone now on Mint. I can get out to the internet on every router other than the one we have at home (TP-Link A7 AC1750). Thought the problem was the router, replaced it (old router was the TP-Link C7 AC1750), and the no Internet available messages persist. I hadn't made any changes to the original router to trigger the initial loss of internet connectivity, and it worked fine for most of a year before it dropped internet connectivity on just this one LAN. Every other network I connect to works flawlessly, including at least one other TP-Link, and every other wifi enabled device in the house on the network works without issue.

I've tried both forgetting the WiFi network and setting it back up again, as well as resetting network settings under Settings > General > Backup and Reset > Reset Network Settings.

What I did to make my mxq pro 4k run better imo

Heres my little advice on this cheapo device
That has actually made this device reasonably bearable 'especially now that I can play most gameloft games like modern combat on it' I still very much recommend getting a better one but if 25$ is all you can afford why not try to pimp it out and make the best of it?

Heres the things I've done and why and I hope it helps someone

Step 1
FACTORY RESET
For some reason my experience with this device was horrid day 1 of getting it but factory resetting it helped ALOT but still had issues so let's proceed

Step2
Developer options
Go to settings
Go to about media box
Keep tapping build number till developer options is enabled
Then change these settings like I did
Windows animation scale
Transition scale
Duratuin scale
All off
Force gpu rendering
Force 4x msaa
Disable hw overlays
->Don't keep activities
Background process limit
No background processes<- 'you will be using your android TV like a console basically anyways and this helps alot!'
But it still isn't enough apps once in a blue moon will still lock up and you need an easy way to kill them automatically for real and having these settings still keeps the app intact

So the last thing you will need is
Advanced task killer

Step 3
Final step
Install advanced task killer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.taskmanager

Open it
Go to ignore list
Lock the apps YOU TRULY NEED 'overlay digital clock is mine ;)' only the apps you need running in the background for whatever reason just know that the more you let go the less results imo

Click the 3 dots on the top right
Go to settings
Make sure automatically start up is checked
Turn regular kill on and click the settings by it
Turn regular kill notice on 'optional I like to know it's still running'
Go to regular kill frequency
Do every one minute 'so you can close an app fast if it is acting up without having to go through any other trouble while it is freezing due to it so you can't'
Click okay and then turn startup kill on for effect
Go back to home and your done

I suggest getting a better launcher aswell I use Square Home 3
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.squarehome2

I also suggest getting a good usb tb hdd so you can get all the games you could ever want to play and an app called octopus to set it

I've also discovered you can't add games to octopus while don't keep activities is enabled disable it add the games to the list then reenable

Octopus gamepad:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chaozhuo.gameassistant

'You'r going to have to Google octopus apk to get it'

Lastly I believe that updating Google play services seems to make everything go downhill so maybe try to stay away from updating that as long as you can 🤷

Also unfortunately octopus seems to aswell I don't know a decent fix

Apk mirror seems to be the best place to install apks if you cannot find them in the play store

I don't claim to know everything I just know what worked good for me

We Need No Stinkin Headphone Jack

Yet another flagship without a headphone jack, according to the rumors. That definitely seems to be the trend of late but that leaves a lot of quality headphones in the dead device drawer. I switched to BT for my tunes and notifications a few years back so I'm not affected. However, after following the rumors and release of the Note 10+ a month back, I noticed a number of people that were not all that pleased about losing the headphone jack option. What's your thoughts? Would the lack of a jack sway your buying decision?

Apps slow to install, even after factory reset and dalvik wipe.

Just as the topic says, apps are very slow to install. This was true even after going through a factory reset and wiping Dalvik cache. I was having the darndest time just getting any apps to install, when all a sudden it started working well as I sat in my car outside my daughters orthodontist office. I hung until I got most of my apps installed, but after leaving there, the problem is back in spades.

Does not matter if I am on wireless, cell, you name it.

I disabled app security checking in Play store, wiped cache.. none of that works. I mean, if factory reset does not solve, I am inclined to think it's something with my account in general.

Anyways, I am desperate at this point. Last night I tried to install a remote control app for my TV, and it did not finish until 3 hours later. This is brutal. Any help appreciated!!

[Resolved] No rush/Asking pros here about the PITA direct share stagnation. see comment

what do you do with direct sharing if its a menace?

  • Turn if off and manually select app and contact

No hurry worry.
The direct share on shows redundant contacts even when no contact is even in contacts lists in gmail or outlook. Still 2 PITA contacts refuse to not show. sharing is flawless below direct share when off.
I do notice outlook isnt first chosen in the direct share choices.
Do you guys switch DS off or my guess your corner of earth is fine. Any input is helpful.
factory reset is a zero option.
see the poll too

i resolved it on my own.

Why I will never buy a Pixel.

Price. Greed. Google is all about money. It always was. In the beginning, they put out great phones for a lot less than did Samsung, LG, Apple and HTC, etc.

The were the disrupters of the industry, just like Sprint's John Legere changed the face of providers by having no contracts, etc. Now? Google is the same as everyone else.. just another good brand. Expensive, just like everyone else.

Me? I'll wait for the One Plus 7T. I'm pretty much settled. One Plus is the game changer... a flagship fone for 600.00? Come on! That's a no brainer.

Vanishing photos after moving them

Just got my new Samsung A40. I took some pictures & moved them from the DCIM directory in the phone memory to another directory in the SD card. Phone says it has moved them. If I look in the new directory it shows the moved photos as grey rectangles with an exclamation mark in the middle. If I scroll down the display till the grey photos are out of sight then scroll up again, the picture thumbnails appear. However, if I try to open the photos full screen, I just get the grey rectangles with an exclamation mark in the middle full screen. Tapping "Details" gives the basic photo data - date, size, path & title. I tried plugging in the phone into the computer to download them, but they are nowhere to be found. I tried "Sharing" the photos, but it says "Unsupported file". If I try to copy them, it says "can't copy".

I won't be moving any more photos in the phone till I discover the cause.

Help please. John
