I have had my first Android phone (MiNote 7) for a few days. I have been unable (except very briefly) to get it to connect to my PC via Your Phone and Your Phone Companion. They are linked and the phone is clearly identified in the PCs Settings, but they do not communicate. Briefly I was able to send Text messages from the PC via the phone (a major reason for buying it) but now when I try, it reports "We cannot connect to your phone".

I have checked various settings in both devices, without success. Likewise with the article in Support and the troubleshooter.

Possibly related, I have so far not been able to get Windows Timeline on the phone --- whereas StickyNotes appear automatically.

Advice would be welcome.

With the cheesiest set possible (walls and pictures on the wall rattle when a door is slammed) these shows could pull you in regardless of being in Black and White.

This is a problem that appears intermittently. I used to get it with my previous phone (Nexus 5) and had hoped that when I upgraded to a Pixel 3a it would be a thing of the past - but no!
What happens (from time to time) is that the wifi icon indicates strong wifi but no internet. As a result the phone starts using 4g data for internet connections. However, if I turn off 4g data I can access all internet sites over wifi without any trouble, so the wifi does, in fact have internet access although the phone says it doesn't.
This is annoying because if I don't spot it and turn off 4g data it starts to waste my 4g data allowance.
After some variable amount of time (usually up to an hour) it suddenly reverts to normal.
I haven't been able to find any answer to this (or indeed anyone reporting the same problem) even though I've been searching off and on for several years.

Hi I'm at a loss I can not figure out why my incoming calls will start to ring but before I can answer it will stop and register as a missed call. I have reset the network setting and rebooted the phone. Any info/ help would be greatly appreciated.

Currently I am working on an application which has BLE peripheral, my app works as master and the BLE device works as peripheral.

The app has below mentioned use cases:

1. The application should connect and communicate with the BLE device even if the app is not in foreground. (app can be in background or closed)
2. Once the app is connected to the BLE device we need to get the data in our application and process on it.
3. So the basic use case which needs to be achieved is, once the BLE device is in our device's range it should connect and communicate with our app , whereas once its out of our device's range it should stop the communication process.

All these things should work well even if our app is in background or closed state.

As per the background limitations from oreo as mentioned in this link https://developer.android.com/about/versions/oreo/background , we can not use services to achieve this scenario.

Currently we are using foreground services to achieve the desired use case, but not sure if that is the best approach to work with.

Please let me know the best approach which can be used to achieve the above mentioned use case using the latest android api.

Note: Our app has minimum sdk version 23 and target sdk version 28

My company has asked me to try to find some software that backs up (in plain text) the data from an android device. A mandatory requirement is that it must be able to back up SMS, Instagram, and Facebook data. I have a couple of questions around this.

1. Can this backup be done directly from an android device?
2. Does any software exist that can achieve this in an intuitive manner?

There is a tool called iMazing that does this well for IOS but I am not sure if an equivalent exists for Android.

The "My Railroad" game contains two parts - the main gameplay and the quest part.
In the main gameplay the player needs to connect all the towns with each other using 6 kinds of rails. After that the player should direct trains between towns (the red train should go to the red town, and the yellow one - to the yellow one) using of railways switchers and traffic lights.

Various relief obstacles (rivers and mountains) appear further in the game, as well as bridges and tunnels. Next we tried to create difficulties in the paths construction. There are only 6 rail shapes, so it is necessary to create additional loops or railway sidings for some towns connection (puzzle elements).

Also there is a quest part in the game - the player can spend the earned money to restore locomotives in the hangar.

I will be glad to hear your opinion on it.

I am trying to mirror the same here:

I just have a problem with my phone last day and it said my internal storage is running out and need to have at least 250MB storage even though I have at least 2gb free on my internal and I can't update any apps from play store, that's why I go factory reset cause deleting cache doesn't work, but after reset the notification doesn't clear up and now I can't connect my google account cause the google play services is stopping and I try to download an APK of it but it doesn't install (maybe because of that notification that I have no storage left. right now I have 10.9gb free in my internal and I can't install apps and connect my phone to my google account. I am looking for a keyboard, minus emojis, gifs, and stickers, myself I think they are Childish. I coud put up with it if I can find one with a space bar I don't need a magnifying glass to see. I spent 4 hours online trying to get answers from first playstore then Google who threw me to Android and the grand finale, ZTE. No help . I can't believe such large corporations have no customer service. The Google specialty; here's 3 million articles, read them and maybe your answer is in there. All I want to know is are the programs, ASUS file manager and AppMgr III, compatible with my ZTE Android Z818L, ver5.1. And if not, which I believe is the case, could they recommend the proper apps. The only answer I have gotten , from an app developer, is Android bugs are the problem. I have tried so many file mgrs, I believe that it is impossible to design a Linux app that will operate effectively on so many different phone manufacturers, operating systems and the kernel, which varies on EVERY PHONE . Unless when you were installing the app, they required input of preceding 3 items I mentioned which would allow at most tailoring the app to the phone before installation and at the least, if the app is compatible with your phone. Plus. I never met a file manager that could detect the apps, at least the exact location before and after moving to the sd, not the sd partition of internal memory but the micro SD card. I wonder if any app designer knows what a task manager does. No matter where I move an app, with an app mover file or whatever, the task manager always knows where the app is, the data and cache and all the permissions.. Instead of writing the program to track the app, just poll the task mgr. Never fails.

Hi there. I just bought a new Android box, the MX10 pro.

I have 50 mbps download speed wifi in the house and speedtest verified this is the speed that most devices are downloading at.

Somehow on my MX10 pro, the speed is only 10 mbps. This caused lag when streaming HD content.

Here recently I've been getting ads on my phone whenever I open my apps, it's only been for auto boost so far but has become annoying because it opens in multiple windows at once that I have to close before I can continue. Any ideas how I could fix this? I've tried clearing my cache, deleting apps, and restarting my phone but nothing seems to work. I dont want to factory reset it unless I have to...please help *screenshots attached*

I am on my second 42mm watch with this issue. When new, if I normally pushed the top button it responds. After a week I have to press much more firmly to get a response. I swapped my first watch out after two weeks. Now my new one is exhibiting the same behaviour after one week.

Do all of these watches do this? I know I can swap or spin the dial to move around but if I want to use the button to go to the watch home screen it should work.

Any similar experiences? I like the watch and the battery is incredible compared to my old S2. Just wonder if this is how they all are.

Now don't shoot, boo or hiss at me when I say that I used to have and android phone back in the early days and my last 3 phones have all been iphones. As such a fair proportion of my media on iTunes is from the iTunes stores and has DRM on it.

I'm now very strongly considering upgrading back to an android phone (Samsung Galaxy A50) and ditching the Apple brand.

What I was wondering is there any easy way that I can play DRM protected songs and audiobooks on an android phone. Is there an app on the play store or will I have to buy some program and manually strip the DRM from the media??

Hey there . I am new to this forum and i do know how they work so i'll just get straight to the point .
So this morning my lil bro was using my phone . he downloaded almost half of the games play store has to offer ( he spent about 60 of my 128GB of storage ) in one morning . I don't know if this really has to do with the problem , but i thought it was a system overload or something . Btw my phone is a Google pixel 2 , i have had it for around a year and 3 months ... the same problem happened to my samsung J5 in 2017 ... but i couldn't fix it ...

Anyway at around 1pm the battery died , i put it in charge and me being stupid i turned on the phone instantly since my bro was whining . I gave it to him and told him to use it while it was plugged in . Of course , he didn't listen .. he took it out .. potentially breaking the charger and then using it to download the remaining half of the play store .. the battery died within 8 minutes .. i told him just to leave the phone ... later around 3pm i tried to use the phone . Sadly it didn't turn on ... i was confused , usually my phone would be around 70% at the least by now ... i tried checking if it was unplugged or something .. i tried checking if the charger was broken .. everything ...


Around 7 I lost all hope .. for three damn hours i tried everything ... i was gonna contact support but guess what .... i don't have a phone to use due to my brother using it like there was no tomorrow . And apparently they are good for nothing .
So i will now explain what is happening . i have tried many solutions on YouTube and none of them worked . But i don't know how somehow after countless hours of trial and error i turned on the phone .. i was so excited i didn't think of at least putting on a battery saver or safe mode ... it turned of instantly . anyway so i tried the thing where you have to reboot it and stuff and nothing worked .. when i try to go the boot menu using power button and the volume up/ down it doesn't take me to the boot menu . instead it pops up the battery logo and disappears a second after .. i'm not really sure how to turn it off completely but when i finally get on the boot menu , i click on recovery mode and it goes through a mini BSOD / boot loop and goes back ... i really cannot live without my phone .. please reply with a adequate answer ASAP.. do i need a new charger ... is it a problem with my hardware or software .... So basically my phone won't turn on anymore ...

How to restrict users from taking screenshots, copying texts, using internet and etc except for reading downloaded PDFs on the device?

So the weather my Chromecast shows doesn't seem to be that of my location. The temperature it shows is quite higher than what it actually is here. My best guess is that it uses the IP address to know my location. My IP address shows a place that is way too far from where I am. Is there a way to let the Chromecast know where I actually am? Like, by using the GPS in my phone?
