Has anyone owned both the LG v30, and the S7 Edge??

Was recently given an S7 Edge, and I am comparing it with my lgv30. the first thing I noticed is that it is taller than it is wider oh, and since people read text horizontally, I can't see as much text in a single window. That's one thing I could never understand with the Galaxy series, it seems like they would have gone wider at some point. Has anyone owned both of these phones? What do you think of them in comparison? Thanks

Sudden problems with perception and speakerphone

In the past month, I have noticed problems with reception breaking up and sometimes cutting out, using it in the same locations that worked fine before.
Also, I have noticed that microphone goes dead when I have my speaker phone turned on and want to operate hands-free. I'm looking at the actual microphone opening to see if there a something clogging it but it looks okay, and it works fine when I'm not using the speakerphone mode. anybody know what might be causing this?
Thanks

Can't even find the app to put on Note 4. What?

okay, so...my old, old Note 3 that was all rooted and running resurrection remix for Android 7.1.2 on it... turned it on again after such a long time out of curiosity. among the other app updates, I see that Magisk had a significant update. After updating the manager and magisk itself, I'm finding that the Magisk hide is actually working. As in, I was able to log in and start actually running pokemon go again.

Now, since then I also have a Note 4 Unlocked that I lent to the wife... and I was able to update Magisk and such on hers, but when I was about to add the hide permissions for pokemon go, I noticed it wasn't installed. More over, trying to search for it, it won't even let me actually point to the app itself.

What the crap is going on here? The Note 4 is running its own build of resurrection remix that has it running Android 8, for what it's worth. I'm at a loss, because if anything, the guts of the Note 4 should have no problem running the game, but google play store actively refuses to show the option to even get the game on there.

Dell Latitude E6530 Lid Polishing

I took the leap of faith with my Latitude E6530 and discovered that the center grey panel on the lid was made of anodized aluminum. I wanted to change its color around to be a bit more unique (and my friend got a 6440 with a silver finish and I liked how that looked more), so I decided to polish it down to a reflective mirror finish. This SHOULD work with the entire 6X30 lineup, as well as the 6X20 lineup, since TO MY KNOWLEDGE they're the same externally.

If you want to get a finish like this for yourself, @Dannydet said that car wrapping companies might be able to apply a wrap/coat thing to your laptop for a decent price. This is the easy way out if you don't want to risk frying or melting anything with acidic chemicals. If this sounds appealing, hit up Google or the local Yellow pages. If you're like me though and want to do this yourself, here's how I did it:

First I had to cover the thing up with tape to seal off the sides. I used electrical tape and then masking tape over it. I wouldn't recommend this looking back, instead use just electrical tape all around it, wrapping it from the bezels on the top of the screen to the bottom of the computer covering up all the holes and ports. Wrap it tight so no liquids can get in there. If you want, do a double layer just to be safe since some of the chemicals here can be pretty acidic. You really want to take your time for this part to make sure you're not only closing off all points of entry for liquid, but defining the area you want to work with nicely as well. This tape will act as a border that defines the area that gets sanded and polished. Don't be sloppy like I was or you may end up with some jank results.

Once it's securely covered and liquid proofed along the sides and bezels, generously spray some Easy Off oven cleaner on it. It needs to be the yellow can kind, I hear the blue can "odorless" kind doesn't work too well. Make sure it starts to bubble up all over the surface area. If it looks like you missed a spot put some more on there. Sit and wait ~10 minutes and let it do its thing. You might want some gloves and goggles for this part too, and to be in a well ventilated area.

Once you let it sit for a good long while take a roll of paper towels with you, and start scraping away at the finish. it should come off like mud. Once you scrape it all off it should look something like this:

23hrvp3.jpg

Once you clean it all off with a clean towel do the same thing one more time, just to make sure. I did it 3 times but I think that was overkill, it's never going to be perfect with just this. Once you're satisfied and cleaned it all off, it's time to move onto the fun part--sanding!

I started off with a 400 grit wet or dry sandpaper. I used my fingers to lightly coat the top with some water before sanding. The first layer of sanding might take a while, especially if you're like me and you have a pretty bad scratched and dented lid where it's all uneven. If you have a sanding wheel for this next part, you probably already know how to use it so just go ahead and do that, being careful to not push down on it TOO hard. If you're like me and you need to do it by hand, I did a cross-hatching technique. I went up and down with the sand paper thoroughly both ways, then spun it around 90 degrees and did the same thing. I repeated this until it made a full rotation, then I used some dish detergent and water to clean it off with some paper towels. You might have to do this multiple times with the 400 grit paper. It might look kinda crappy too at this point but don't worry, it'll get better as we go on. (I forgot to take a picture at this point, sorry)

The next step is to do pretty much the same thing with slightly finer paper, I used 600 grit. This is what it looked like when I was done with that. Far from done, but starting to take its form nicely. Notice how in the next picture the tape I use around my laptop looks different. I had to replace the masking tape because the chemicals were getting under there and loosening its grip. This is why I say to use electrical tape all around!

After that was 1500 grit paper. It'll be better still at this point but still far from done (I forgot to take a picture here again).

At this point I think you can go one of two ways. If you have the finer grit paper or you have a wheel for it, move onto sandpaper with grit in the 2000s, then maybe finish off with somewhere in the 3000s or 4000s if you'd like. Since I had neither, I moved onto brass wool at this point. I started with coarse brass wool and did the same technique as the sandpaper, with the addition of making circles around the surface as well. By this point it should really start to look like a decent mirror finish.

Unfortunately you can see that I was a jackass and gave too much attention to one spot there. Try to avoid doing that if possible, it messes with the look a bit. If it does happen you might be able to buff it out with polish, but I wasn't really able to with mine. Maybe if I had a proper wheel I could. Anyway, after this I moved onto the fine grit brass wool and did the same thing. At this point it had a pretty good mirror finish, despite my messed up splotch there. Unless you're looking directly at it you really don't see it, especially in well lit areas.

When your sanding is down to the level you want it to be at, it's time for some polish. I used some Brasso with a couple of old socks to put it on there. You really need to take your time to rub it in there to get the full effect, or it'll just end up looking even duller and worse. If you have any blemishes like I did, now's a good time to try and clean those up.

After that, make sure the surface is dry and cleaned up, unwrap your latitude from its tape cocoon, and pray to god it turns on.

Despite my poor taping efforts I have a halfway decent border defined around this thing. It may be uneven if you look really closely at it, but I don't really care, it looks good enough. Just make sure you learn from my mistakes if you try this out for yourself and yours will look even better.

The goal of this was originally to replicate the silver finish of the 6X40 series, but once I started I realized the potential here and took it all the way to a mirror polished finish, and boy am I glad I did. If any of you try this out let me know how it goes, or if you have tips to do it better please share them!

Apps and Launcher on Android Based Set Top Box

Hi everyone!

I recently moved to the Caribbean and had a set top box installed along with an antenna. The system runs on Android 7.0 but the provider has their own interface installed by default. The box supports wi-fi, bluetooth and a range of other features that are normally hidden in the default interface. The only part of stock Android interface that's visible is the settings menu.

I managed to install Chrome with a USB drive and it's working perfectly fine. The issues I'm having however are two-fold:

1) How can I launch apps once installed without a regular interface? Currently the only solution I have is to install the app every time and then open it from the option after installation.

2) Can I install a more user friendly launcher that launches by default while still having access to the original interface to actually watch TV?

Thanks in advance!

Colornote Sync Keeps deleting my restored notes

- I inadvertently deleted all my notes

- Easily restored them using my sdcard backup

- Problem is when I turn sync back on it deletes all my notes

- I believe it is looking to the cloud as the most current status, seeing it empty (since I deleted everything) and syncing all that emptiness to my phone, erasing my freshly restored notes.

- How can I get sync properly operational again ?

Thanx !

Storage not updating

It's only when I delete things. The storage doesn't update then eventually becomes too full unless I reset the phone. When reset, the storage will show the correct number but I'm not sure if constantly resetting my phone will lead to some other problem. Does anyone know how I might fix this or at least tell me if resetting all the time won't cause any problems later down the road?

DR Fone has put my Galaxy S7 into loop logo mode

Hi, I have allowed a debug mode on my Galaxy S7 in order to let Dr.Fone software to try to recover my whatsapp chats, because for some reason on my new Galaxy S9 phone it was impossible to get them restored from google drive as i had an error "Couldn't restore your messages. Please check your Internet connection".
So i connected my Galaxy S7 to pc and recovering via Dr.Fone instead of it rebooted my phone put int some wierd loop with the "Samsung" logo mode the only thing i can go from there its recovery mode. And Dr.fone didn't find or recovered anything, neither it has an option to unplug my phone. I guess you have to pay for it. It just so bad, cause i have a lot valuable info on my old phone.
What can I do in order to exit this loop logo mode?

Thanks.

Apps Vertical and Horizontal Scrolling Grid.

Hello i need to design this:

GRID.jpg

In my screen i want to load 9 images and be able to:
1-scroll each column vertically UP and DOWN
2- Scroll horizontally the whole column LEFT AND RIGHT
3- Be able to scroll UP and DOWN new Column on screen

I don't want the solution just to know if it is Doable and which elements to use???

Or should i go straight to a Game engine instead of android studio?

NOTES:
Each block will have an image preloaded in app.
In the future each block could have editing options

Final idea is to be able to move any block in any direction keeping relative position of each element.
Is this possible with only android studio?

Please Help ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got this phone a the beginning of the 3rd last week of May 2019 but i have but having trouble

I flashed the phone with new firmware (b0727052016) using SP flash tools because the firmware it originally comes with is outdated so after flashing this firmware, everything looked like its was working fine but later when it got to the time to charge it, it couldn't charge at all because I started to charge it when its battery was 16% but it later dropped to 8% while it was charging, I was very surprised when I saw this so I left it to keep charging its thinks this was just something normal but it later dropped to 1% and it stayed like that for that whole night.

So the next day I read some forums and they said that may be the charger is the issue or the source of electricity so I got a Samsung Charger that supported fast charging and it the charge to 2% then back to 1% the 0% so i tried turning it on again and the screen just kept flashing so would someone please help me to sort this issue
