Root Two Releases Two Days, Froyo Anyone? - Sapphire 0.6.0

If I understand this stuff correctly, when you build from source, there are no google apps or any other goodies. I think he pulled the good stuff from the FRF57 build and made the actual os from source. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

you are somewhat correct, there are more proprietary files than just the Google apps, thing like the drivers for the camera, wifi, bluetooth, GPS...

the Google apps we used are also from FRF57 as this is a DROID build... and FRF57 is a DROID leak...

just in case motorola modified the Google apps...

Until Moto releases newer files (ie the official release) there won't be any newer files available specifically for the DROID...

cool beans... ill be holding off till then... because we will have to do a data wipe when going to a FRF83 sourced rom correct?

I think the Droid builds will be named FSF**. When the 2.1 roms were being released for the nexus I recall them being named ERE** until the Droid builds came out and were named ese81 etc. I could be way off base though.

ok so the FRF83 source out currently is for the nexus plus whatever else, and weve got to wait on motorola to leak/release its own build of FRF83...... correct?

you;re confusing Source builds... with hacks...

this is a SOURCE build... we compiled it from source code... that is available here android.git.kernel.org Git

the actual Source code doesn't have a build number...
FRF57 is a reference to the proprietary files used to make teh build useable on the motorola droid...

restoring apps via titanium as i type!

Ok problem. I have no Google maps and it (and twitter) both say download unsuccessful every time I try to download from the market. Is there a fix?

All I gotta say is that I love the dramatic dialogue! I'll try it out soon...hope no bugs because of the swiftness of your doings lol...jk man

Issues right up front with restoring Apps from the market. I've no time for these problems. Restored to JRummy. Sorry. Hopefully something better comes along sooner.

Congrats! Been wondering who was going to get to the finish line first. I'll flash after I get home tonight.

Looking forward to it as I haven't tried a Saphire ROM yet either...

hey whats up "sniffle"

okay first off everything went as planned... i did a wipe and wiped partition... before i installed the rom... smooth sailing.... market restored all 32 of my apps.. no problems..

my only question is in the core features its say apps2sd... but i didn't see any option under application settings screen like it does using cyanogen mod... and while in manage applications none of my apps would install to sd card... besides the ones the dev.. have enabled...

i was just wondering if i have to run the command in terminal emulator..
pm setInstallLocation 2... i dont like doing it this way becuase none of the widgets work properly... was just curious as to if you were going to have the option to install apps via the way all of the cyanogen roms have in the past?

thank you for you time.

apps2sd is built into the OS now as long as the app supports it you can move it to the SD card in settings>applications>Manage Applications

choose the apk, if it has been built into the APK it can be moved to the SD Card

Guys, tip the Sapphire rom post if you like the rom. It's the first from source built rom produced. i think thats news worthy :-)
