I don't think you need another phone, I live in Chicago and use 4G all the time but I am down in Orlando for work this week and I get the same thing. Most likely just some test towers or something.

I asked my Sprint store if they'd heard any rumors when I bought mine this past Friday. They said maybe by the end of the 4th quarter (but I don't know when Sprint's quarters run ;) ). Take it with a grain of salt FWIW :p

Even if out isn't officially launched you still may bee able to get a signal...I'm in dc and before everything was officially launched i was still able to get a signal

I have tested 4G at work (Mira Mesa) and at Home (Mission Valley) and have not been able to connect. But I have heard from sprint and BB that we should get it by the end of the year. So early spring 2011? haha I had too.

See my above post. I indicated two areas that report 4G availability, but stuck at "Obtaining IP address from Sprint." Let us know if you get different results.

Today is the first time I have been able to get a 4G signal at my house in South County. At work today in Fenton I still could not get a 4G signal though. I was able to get 3mbps up which is pretty good considering I can't even figure out where the tower is.

I have weak signal in the Seaport area... not strong enough to do anything useful but still encouraging...

Hmmm gotta fire up 4G here at 49th, and 6th. But I am getting 4G on the train ride between Elizabeth, and Rahway. Sprint must have gotten a second site running because it used die as I hit the Linden/Rahway border but now I get 2 bars where I was lucky to get one bar in downtown Rahway.

Funny you mention downtown Rahway..i think i would have much bigger issues that lack of 4G coverage if i was in downtown rahway!!

When I picked up my Evo on launch day, the Sprint rep said they were already testing it out in the city and "should" have it running by the end of summer.

Oh, and he gave me a $25 service credit for having been in that BB for FOUR hours! (although he gave it to me just because I had to wait for it to be my turn, which was waaaaay before that 4 hour mark.)

Howdy. I live in Elgin but work in NW Austin. The last couple days have not been good for 4g. Seems no different than 3g and rarely crosses the 1 mb down mark. I am stock but have not accepted the 1.47.xxxx update this week. Curious as to what you other locals are experiencing?

I don't live close enough to get 4G often enough to provide much data, but it works fine when I'm in town.

You could do a PRL update, I think new towers/APs will be added to your list, it could improve your connectivity/speeds...

PRL is up to date...60667...you been in Austin the last few days?

I'm almost tempted to take the update and see what happens.

Most of my 4g experience is on 183 between Mcneil and 290.

Yeah but my PRL was updated last night (manually by me). I don't live in 4G zone so I don't know what it's been like, but I know weather has sucked lately. Although glad for the rain. :D

I didn't update yet as I don't want to lose my unrEVOked!

I'm near Wells Branch and MoPac and here are my 4G speeds. First one is inside the apartment and the second one is out on the patio.

Of course I just use my RR connection at home though.

Around south central near downtown (78704) I get under 2000kbps 99% of the time. I usually test it when I'm around town and I think I've gotten over 3000kbps maybe once. Pretty disappointing b/c Sprint says average is 3-6mbps. I've called but never got anywhere. Doesn't bother me too much b/c I mostly use wifi.

We should go hang out where the Clear van is always parking (Parmer Fry's comes to mind, also somewhere downtown I think) - likely they park in high speed low latency areas, or are we giving them too much credit? :D
