Best non-Sense (harhar nonsense) widgets, in my opinion, are as follows. I've gone through 75+ widgets since I got my Incredible on launch day, and these are the ones I ended up with in my setup:

ScoreMobile
FeedR
Express News
Beautiful Widgets (mostly for the home widget)
Touchdown (only if you need work e-mail)
Pure Calendar Agenda (it scrolls! well, if you use launcherpro or adw.launcher)
Pure Messenger (it scrolls too! see above)
AudioManager
Last.fm (or pandora, matter of taste)
Lamppu (if rooted)
SwitchPro

Beautiful Widgets Clock/Weather (2x4, replacing large HTC widget)
AudioManager (might replace with Settings Profile)
Bookmarks

HTCSense mail widget
Remember the Milk (one screen is devoted to RTM widgets for today, my two major work projects, and personal tasks)

Anyone running the Engadget widget? I used to have it loaded a few versions back and it worked fine. Recently reloaded my phone with the newer version and noticed it was sucking my battery down at a rapid rate, even with automatic refresh/update turned off. Which sucks because it was great for a quick check of recent gadget news.

I use it. It used to not work, but works like a charm now.

My widgets from the leftmost screen to the rightmost...

Those are pretty much icons that are just links to apps you've got listed. I think he's looking more for widgets = in order to perform various functions without the need to access an actual full application. Don't get me wrong your list is still helpful, and I'm not trying to "call you out" - just giving you a friendly heads up. :)

Home- HTC-clock/weather,internet,telenav, camera, note everything,
Left (all the way) - Calendar
Left (next-toward home) - IMDB, iHeart Radio, Droid Forum, Touchdown, ESPN Scorecenter, Fantasy Hockey/Football/Baseball
Left (next to home) - Flashlight, VizBattery, AndroidBooster, Power control (widget for bluetooth, wi-fi, sync, etc. - turn on/off easily)
Right (next to home) - News, twitter
Right (next toward home) - Bookmarks
Right (all the way) - Friend Stream

this thread would have done better if it was "what is the one widget you couldn't live without" so people pick their best one and not just list. for me its probably reddit is fun
