which file manager would you suggest?

I'm wanting to use a file manager, but am after peoples opinions first.

The main two are either astro or estrong as far as i can tell qnd I have some questions for those that either have one or have tried both.

Astro is twice the size of estrong, before any add-ons. Is it worth the extra space?

Is one better than the other? Which one and why?

Can you do everything on both (browse files, send via BT, see files on home PC over WiFi, etc)?

Obviously before Froyo comes space is at a premium so I'd rather get the best value for my MB as it were!

Astro is the way to go. it may be bigger than estrong but not too big for your phone. Its bigger because you have more options. great file manager, its also a process manager so you can see what apps are taking the most memory, you can back up installed apps, and you can install .apk's with it.
yes, you can send files with it

I actually find estrong easier to navigate and copy/paste. estrong also has the built-in ability to connect to your LAN shares, which is nice.

So can Astro.

it really depends what you want, easy user friendly interface or quality and functionality.

install them both, try them out and uninstall the one you dont want

Root Explorer is the only way to go.

Oh wait, you aren't trying to modify your system files? Then Estrong. Astro is bloatware, IMO. I've never needed its task manager.

I love to manage the files on my Android from the PC. I use Droid PhoneControl to manage it over WLan. It has a nice desktop integration (Drag and drop) but needs no installation because it runs in your browser.

Astro is the best, but download and try them all for yourself... they're free!

Yep, this is the 'right' answer. There is no 'best' app out there, there is only what's best for you. And the only way to find that out is to try them.
