"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

I am still confused how you would obtain the phone. Would you ask someone, search a random crevice? I feel like some random person who happens to be in the right place will end up getting them.

My guess would be you're either going to have to find it (hidden - crevices, etc) or you'll find a person there and you have to specifically ask for it. If you have to specifically ask, I doubt a random stranger would get it.

They really should give us some flippin' idea of what it is we're looking for. The idea of just looking for something and not knowing what it is seems rediculous.

I still don't think the "real" clues have come yet. The current clues are all setting up the general locations for the upcoming specific clues. IMO.

I agree -- with less than two weeks -- they clues will have to start getting more specific the closer we get to the launch date.

you know what all our luck is going to be, we are all going to get droid x's, then 2 weeks after we get them, oh look, the droid 2 comes out in august(thats true) and (rumors here) it will be our first 4g phone...

Won't bother me, I don't want a physical keyboard on my phone anymore. :)

The only things that worry me are maybe the Droid Pro, and any secret 2Ghz processor, LTE (4G) devices that haven't been announced yet..

From @VZWNetwork: We’ll take the checkered flag this weekend at Daytona International Speedway with our turbocharged network: Verizon Wireless Turbocharges Wireless Services For Race Fans In Daytona, Florida

and yet another thing that points to daytona... there are just too many coincidences now with daytona. I cant wait until we find the answers to this damn hunt. i'll try not to rub it in too much when it turns out im right.

DAYTONA PEOPLE!!! DAYTONA!!! HA!!

Well, there's the whole "You'll know it when you see it" clue. So you may not know what type of sign to look for, but I'm sure you'll know what the heck it is if you see it. :)

Another suggestion for Droid X hunters in those cities that have decent clues - maybe try a wi-fi finder or bring a wi-fi laptop with you. The phones may very well be powered off...but on the off chance they are turned on for some reason, perhaps verizon has enabled the wi-fi HotSpot as a way of helping people find the general areas of the phone. I don't know what it would say on a local scan - hopefully Droid X.

That's what I'm thinking. Then you just follow the signal strength. Or maybe something in Layer might help you find it.

The range of a wifi spot is what, 100 feet? That's a pretty big area to search.

Bravo, that's a good theory. According to the Twitter account they are off when you find them, but who believes anything that Droidlanding says anymore haha..

wow......#16???

Droid X designate #16 is considered by some to be in the Midwest. It’s considered by most to be amazing.

evidently that retweet of #12 was a typo....we have now had 4 clues today.

we should have known there was gonna be more than 12...remember this tweet...
Reports coming in from all check points. How many Droid X units have escaped? Some say more than a dozen...

Yep- I figured it may be the case.

I'm with some of the others- with less than two weeks until these are available in stores, they don't have much time left to get crackin'. I'd still be more than glad to find one on the 14th, but somehow I don't think that's the point of this exercise.

Well the chances get better at least...this also means they may drag it out even longer

I don't know about that... I think the timeframe is set and they're planning on all of them being found before launch day.

Would be nice if there was 1 per state, or at least enough so that one phone would be within a reasonable driving distance of everyone.

They opened at 11:00 for lunch, I was there at 10:45.

Asked the employees, most didn't know what I was talking about.
The manager said "it's not here." He said if it was, he would have it! He said he would know if it was there - he's the manager. Took that with a grain of salt.

Bought an iced tea and searched the restarant for 90 minutes. It's not a big place, 2 small floors. Looked under the tables, on the chairs, all the signs and memorabilia on both floors.

looked at the bar area...

looked BEHIND the Hard Rock Cafe sign on the inside wall (it is made of an AMBER colored metal, brass or something...) Especially behind the word ROCK and the BRICK wall - ("No Choice = between a rock and a hard place.)

Looked through the souvenier shop, outside on the patio, in the platers...

My current theory:
I think it will be in a dark place or at night (droid x's enhanced vision...)
I think we are on track with location: the Rock & Roll HoF, or the Hard Rock Cafe

Probably my last search, unless it is not found over the long weekend...

I'm assuming your going to need some better tools, considering the hint "The enhanced vision of Droid X would be the perfect tool to help you find one. Ironic."

I would feel butt naked if I got to a possible site and did not have my droid. I've thought possibly it could show on the google map or layer app or ?

Ideas anyone????
