"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Wow. sounds nuts. Oh well. When I search on my PC and not my droid it gives me two locations for Lombard St. The first being marked as "A" which I previously mentioned, then the second marked with just a green arrow at the intersection of Lombard and Gough St. Again just another hunch.
That area is typically more residential. Not sure he wants to be seen snooping around peoples backyards. ;)
ok on my way...last stop tho :(
Good. That means I still have a chance:p

I could be wrong, but I don't think it'll be at a relatively obscure location.

I think it'll be somewhere where it's not totally obvious.. but still known to the general public. It'll probably be like one of those "ah hah!" moments rather than searching for random businesses that match the description

I agree with you. With all of the HDMI references and clues like "When someone says look at that, you'd better look" or "Droid X shoots in 720p. Which means you can really see the look on your face when you find one." or "Droid X is like no other phone. You’ll know when you see it.", I'm still leaning toward the idea that it will be projected up onto a large, public display. Maybe with an image of an X or with a live video feed from the X's camera or maybe just showing the red eye from the live wallpaper. (The Eye of Sauron):D

With those clues, I just feel like it will be something large and obvious that makes people point and say "look at that".

Well, its off to start the grill and cook some food. Good luck Mahers and those looking in the SF area. Sorry I can't help anymore

Lombard St is really long, then it turns into Richardson Ave, which is 101...I would be looking for things that make the X shapes like trees that cross near the trunks or i just went thru google maps and went to the top of the hill on a virtual ride, that was pretty sweet, lol. but at the top there is a Hyde St, anyone been close to there yet? from there you can see the bay good.

I have a friend in Michigan, so I sent her a msg asking where she could see Canada from in MI, lol...it has to be somewhere on Lake Michigan though. IF it's in MI. Also, I was thinking Philadelphia would get 1 too, but haven't heard any hints for there yet.

She said you can see it from the upper peninsula. Upper Peninsula of Michigan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

where'd everyone go? we should stay focused on the better clues for now. That canada one was a bunch of BS right now.

maher and woot were the ones in the area, and they had to go.

I looked into the green arrow thing, and although I'm not sure why it comes up when you search for Lombard Street, San Francisco .. it is the arrow you get when you right click on an area and choose 'Whats here'. It does give coordinates that way, however. I'm going to look at it again and post those.

[Edit: Well, the green arrow that shows up doesn't list coordinates. If you zoom in to street view over it, it shows a side alley at 3020 Gough St..]

so if these phones are indeed hidden outside and it rains tonight...maybe they could look for a VZW rep out there holding an umbrella over it haha

Droid designate #3 is using all its 1Ghz processing power just to navigate Lombard St.
Droid X designate #13 is going north.

These clues use an ACTIVE verb, meaning that the Droids are on the move. Look for a person walking and USING a Droid X, or a Verizon van `navigating.` Clues will be getting more refined every day. Interesting publicity stunt if Paul Macarelli (the Verizon guy) is on Lombard walking around with the Droid. Also figure that there may be a hidden video crew (in a store or in a van) to tape the discovery.

Canada comes down to Detroit. Windsor is just across the river and can be seen from all over Southeast Michigan.

"The missing Droid X phones aren’t going anywhere else. Unless someone finds them before you"

I take that to mean that the hidden ones are mean for whoever finds them, and they stay hidden until someone does.

The more recent clues are clear that they are moving because 13 is GOING north. Doesn`t say it IS in the north.

Maybe they are GOING to the local store.

IMO

supersaki, I think you are right about that just being the clue to confirm SF. If you google "lombard street wiki" with no city, state or country info, the top hit is for Lombard Street in San Francisco. Unless I see more street clues popping up, I'm going with the idea that this clue just confirms that Droid X #3 is in SF.

ok. so here is my report from #3 search:
went to the crooked part of lombard st n walked up n down...saw nothing around.

then i went coit tower, walked arround and insdie the gift shop, saw nothing. used the paay telescopes to look toward lombard and saw a red balloon in a window, but nothing good.
went to the supposed cybernettic lab address which was a parking lot, saw nothing.
finnally went to another lab on townsend, but it was a locked bldg...nothing around.
i had a good feeling at first, but that faded.
thx for the help n clues everyone!
