What an unproductive day ..
Both due to the fact that no Droid X was found
AND
due to keeping up to date on this thread I have done minimal work today.

Most of us agree that the reps are completely out of the loop on this whole promotion. Probably ran by a 3rd party advertising firm.

Sadly, I think that is how it is going to turn out. I was pulling for you and Morbid to find them, but I must be a pessimist because I'm just seeing this as a marketing stunt instead of a giveaway for the "true" droid x fans.

Cleveland is ~225 miles away, I won't be making that trip no matter what clues they post. I do hope I can contribute to someone else finding a free droid x, but I'm skeptical about how early any of us are going to be holding our new phones.
 
Damn this thread is moving fast, so not sure if someone mentioned this but:

Based on the latest clue, it says "Back to the east coast for a Droid designate #21 sighting. Tell the family you’ll be late." Seems to imply that the previous one, #18 (interstate 80 clue), is in the west of midwest lol. I guess that at least narrows down to 1/2-1/3 of the nation?
 
I'm convinced they haven't placed the phones yet.

In fact, I don't even think they know WHERE they're going to put the phones. They're just waiting to see what people guess and will eventually use those guesses to pick locations.

yeah I agree with that too, I didn't mean a vzw rep, I just meant someone affiliated with the marketing company that is leading us on...lol
 
WOOP,

Is there any way to see how many people have posted to this thread? What if we all protest VZW stringing us along and boycott this stupid phone! We will put such a dent into them via bad PR that they'd have to give us all a free phone for being sucker punched into believing free phones actually existed!!!

Yes. I've been leaning that way for awhile. I think the "you'll know it when you see it" and "hey look at that" clues are referring to the droid eye on the live wall paper in all the screen shots. Add that to all the HDMI references and I still think we are going to see that red eye on a HD display or maybe something as large as a jumbotron display at some sports venue.

Ah, I see. We should "find" one of them and "convince" them to tell us the locations of the phones.

If they were really stringing us along they would be doing a lot more damage than good with this campaign. It would make most national news sites and every tech sites headlines. I doubt they'd risk that.

Also, remember some of the first clues: "REPORT: Surveillance confirms all Droid X have dispersed. Each one is in a separate site." and "The missing Droid X phones aren’t going anywhere else. Unless someone finds them before you.". There is no way to read these in any other way except that the phones are out there, waiting to be found. Unless that are blatantly lying to us.

I actually work in San Francisco (financial district/downtown area though, so I'm a bit out from Lombard. Otherwise I'd go there everyday on my lunch break lol). I live in the east bay and enjoy going out to eat or shop in the Concord/Walnut Creek area
