"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Also with tracking number 431380152430, it says it was delivered from Ontario, CA to El Paso, TX , and since this second Texas clue appears to be Houston and the first Dallas, this disproves the theory that these are sent to random people, because El Paso, doesn't match any of the clues.

Wow this page is moving. Off topic does this website have a mobile version? Sucks trying to bring it up on the Storm.

Try working you will spend over a hour to catch up. :p

Yeah, well I am STILL here working now playing catch up on work (although somehow still reading this post)

Also I feel your pain on the Storm.. Same here, can't wait for Dx to be released already so I can get rid of it.

When I signed up on the Droid X website for more info it asked me if I was an existing customer, and I entered my number... they have my shipping address on file. It's a stretch but still a possibility.

In the email I was sent it specifically says "Want to get your hands on a Droid X? Watch the TV AD>" which links to a video of the original commercial where @Droidlanding was released.

Also, i'm not calling this "fishy" or not, but on the box it says delivered from Fort Worth, Texas but clearly on the tracking number it said it was from Ontario, Canada? Weird, right?

I do believe its in Houston as well. But the humidity thing is bugging me. Been to Houston couple of times and it was humid as hell!

This could very well be for internal routing, it went through the Ft Worth hub before going to El Paso for delivery.

I happen to work for a company who delivers more ground volume than Fedex on a daily basis and I know my competitor very well. :D

EDIT- And Ontario California is a major shipping hub for all US carriers, and all Verizon cell phones get shipped from there to consumers.

Its Ontario, California (its a city in Southern California that has a Verizon distribution center). The box is labeled correct because above that you will see "ORIGIN ID: ONTA"

Edit: looks like someone beat me to the punch.

True, but the most interesting part is that El Paso doesn't match up with any of the clues.

Like I said...we were never told this was a scavenger hunt...everyone just assumed.

Not true. The Droidlanding Twitter profile says the phones are hidden and to follow Droidlanding for clues. While that is more of a treasure hunt than a scavenger hunt, it was not some wild assumption that we are supposed to find hidden phones.

Yeah so thats where the investigation begins. The box is legit. Whether or not the box was from the contest is another question.

The box recipient does not appear to have any connection with Verizon, employee, etc.

Edit: Unless his name is a clue!

One thing we don't know from that picture- was it shipped to someone's home, a company, or a Verizon Store? It could be a demo phone for a store. It could be a media pre-release or a review phone. It could be a Verizon/Moto/Google exec's phone. Too many options to say that random "average joe" customers are getting phones early.

I know it said that. I've been following since the beginning. But...it never spelled it out. I can agree it heavily insinuated and implied the possibility of finding a "hidden" Droid X. But, as someone who deals with legal paperwork...There's a big difference between what they said and actually telling people this will be an official contest.

I mean, I've also not seen a legal disclaimer about age to qualify or rules for ntering without purchasing. Many states have VERY specific laws on contests with prizes valued at this much money.......

With that said, lets just chill out and forget about this possibly hoax; get back to the clues, and find these hidden Droid X's OK?!:D

I'm back from errands. No I don't have an internet enabled phone, which is why I'm getting a Droid X next week (either through cash or solving a riddle :P). Catch me up on Morbid's aventures?
