"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

I'd say its more of a coincidence as I see those X's alot, especially around trees. Whether it means to cut the tree, or has something construction-related.

I believe someone already mentioned that exhibit, and has a friend that is working it. From what I remember, they have not seen anything.

Those X's are for construction marking. They are probably marking trees to be removed (as you stated). The fact that this one happens to be near a verizon ad is most likely just coincidental.

Other than Florida and New York all the phones are in the central part of US and west :( I would at least hope there was one around the DC area.

Has anyone explored the idea that #3 is somehow related to George Lucas? It seems like an obvious tie-in. Lucasfilms' headquarters is in the Presidio, which I think ties in to the part of the clue that said "start at the shore and work in". The Presidio is bordered by the Pacific and the bay. Lucasfilms is really close to the bay side. I don't know anything about the altitude. I thought maybe that would mean Skywalker Ranch, but I don't think that's open to the public, so that can't be it.

Also, I think the first post that says #13 is in Michigan is wrong. Stan Lee was born in NYC. Excelsior is the state motto of New York. There's also an Excelsior College in Albany. I thinking DX might be in a ballpark somewhere. "Excelsior" is from the Bullpen Bulletins that Stan Lee used to write. They weren't related to baseball, but it kind of fits.

Well, and you know that "DROID" is a Lucas Arts trademark as well, right?...

No one that is on here has checked the Presidio. Makes sense with the tie in to Lucasfilms, but that place is WAY too big to go snooping around. Unless, there is an obvious red eye lurking, it won't be found easily. BUT, Lombard St does go right into the Presidio and ends at Presidio BLVD. I can tell you now, I am not looking there, but krichek and WOOP might ;)

Right. That's what I mean by "obvious tie-in". I just think we're barking up the wrong tree looking through the bushes on Lombard Street.

I really don't think there is any tie-in to Lucas Arts. They just had to get(pay for?) permission to use 'Droid'. They had to do the same thing with the LG Voyager (to Plantronics). It doesn't mean Lucas Arts is in any way affilliated with this promotion or the phone.

The whole Seeing Canada and the Stan Lee thing is just telling you the Region. Close to Canada narrowed it down to a couple states then the Stan Lee and Excelsior bit made it NY. Next will be City.

Perhaps the altitude reference in the clues indicate that it is somewhere up in the air or maybe a clue is up in the air .. up a pole somewhere ... upstairs in a building?

Again, I don't know much about SF .. maybe go upstairs in a building and look out windows .. another clue may present itself.

@vexhold if you think that close to canada narrows it down to a few streets your friggin crazy...around here the entire lake erie shoreline and niagara river are the border to canada...meaning it could be anywhere for miles...

I was like..."HUH?" lol

For those of you not in San Francisco, Lomabard St goes from Coit Tower to the Presidio. A few of us went from the crooked part to Coit and found nothing. When I was at Coit, I looked thru a pay telescope and saw something red...got excited for half a second before realizing it was a red balloon floating outside an apartment window...not a Droid eye. I looked up, down and freaking sideways. Nothing. I have a strong feeling that Coit is the place, but I just couldn't find it. It's high, plenty of places to hide it, it's at the end of Lombard St...who knows? Hopefully, we all will very soon.

I bet we don't get any more specific clues until the weekend when more hunters are free to run out like maniacs looking for the phones!:D

Yall are thinking too much. This is pretty basic stuff here.

We have X amount of hidden Devices.
We have random clues
Some are good, some are fluff

Clues break it down slowly from vague to specific.

Region
State
City
Location?

Theres no Divinci's Code here, no puzzle to figure out.

The only thing to think about is what the individual clues mean in regards to the referenced device it refers to. (i.e. which clue step its on.. region, city,state...)

Don't pull your hair out and don't go driving 10 hours to look if theres less than 3 clues for that device.

Unless your REALLY bored!
