"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

"Droid X designate #14 has landed in urban area. Its 1Ghz processor should be powerful enough to unite the Cubs and Sox fans" but was deleted quickly, I am thinking they messed this one up, because of the previous clues about cattle and Northern Cardinal.

Chicago used to have the largest stockyards (or still does but not used), and their state bird is the Cardinal..

There's cattle in urban areas in Chicago?

"Droid experts say some Droid X phones may still be moving. What they don’t know is who will find them."

Did you guys also read this as some people already finding some of the hidden droids?

First them mention the phone scaring the cattle. Then they mention the Northern Cardinal. Then they mention an urban area and uniting the Sox and Cubs fans.

I don't know anything about Chicago whatsoever. Could the two animal clues be pointing to a zoo or stock yards? The animal clues don't really fit in with the urban clue so I'm probably taking it too literally.

I also dont know anything about cattle, but a scared cow did start the Chicago fire?

Okay, I looked up and discussed any possible legal issues involving them being at billboards. We're in general agreement that the interpertaion of 'criminal mischief,' 'vandalisim,' 'trespassing,' 'standing/parking on the right-of-way/emergency lane/easement,' and even the new 'curbstoning statute' would mean that as long as the "droid hunter" has permission from the property owner/signage owner to be present on the property and causes no damage or makings to said property and does not have to cross any physical barrier (ie: a fence) to gain access to said property.....it would be legal to search. However, ClearChannel and CBS (which own many billboards in the greater Orlando area have a standing request with the Orange County Sheriff's Office to prosecute anyone on their property around their billboards without express written consent in the form of a work order or letter on company letterhead.

Just be careful everyone...don't break any laws just for a phone....criminal trespassing is entering onto any private property without permission from the agent in charge of the property or property owner or legal resident. (stores are private property and poking around the dock areas behind stores WILL get you stopped by any LEO that sees you.

I have a friend in media who sells billboard space, and she says that it's very rare for companies like Verizon to own one, that they just rent them. the reason being -- all of the billboard space is already "zoned in" and they don't put up many new ones, so new companies in the area, or new advertisers in an area only have the option to rent current space.

That being said, I've still stopped at every Verizon billboard that I've seen. Some have locked boxes at their base (lights? power?) and some don't. None have had Droids.

yes, I figure 85% of Verizon Billboards are owned by an Ad company, but there has to be some, even if a small amount that Verizon owns....

and you need to look for new ones, something that has a new droidx mention, like coming in July, or even at Motorola/Verizon billboards.

Think about it, they probably have 200+ billboards in a state, and you are looking for 1 or 2, not quite a needle in a haystack, but its not gonna be just your regular billboard sign you see in Allentown,pa or something.

Adding a Server
Use Menu->Add Server to enter the add server screen. You have to enter at least the profile name and an address. Everything can be left blank and will be filled in automatically using the defaults set in Options->Server Settings. (Interactive Example | Static Image)
Connecting to a Server
Tap on the server's name to start connecting.
Autosuggest nicks
Type part of a nickname and press search. If there is only one matching nick, it will fill it in for you, otherwise you can select the nick you want from the scrollable list that pops up. You can use the UserList for a full list of name.
Using scrollback
Move the trackball up or down to navigate saved scrollback. Use /cs to clear scrollback.
Changing window
Click the window tab at the top of the screen to change to that window.
Close a window
Long press the tab and select Close from the context menu or use /wc. You can close all windows with the -a switch. (Status window cannot be closed)
Switching between Servers
Use the volume keys to switch up and down between active servers. Or back to the main window and select the server you want to open.
Filtering Servers
You can filter between Servers by typing in the Server label while in the Server list and between Active/Inactive Servers by using Menu->Filter.
Using autorun
Autorun supports all the commands supported by the app internally. E.g. um +i will automatically send MODE nick +i on connect.
You can also use $nick as a placeholder for the nickname on the server and it will replace it with your current nickname before sending the command.
