"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

WTFFFFFF!

"the final clue of each GPS location for each Certificate will be tweeted at the time it is hidden."

so basically,
1) there are no hidden droids. they are certificates.
2) there are no hidden certificates yet.
3) when the final GPS clue is given, hell will freeze over at these locations.

Uh.. was this covered already?

Verizon Wireless Droid Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt Rules?

Sorry for double post if it was.

Nice find! From what I gathered there are 21 "certificates" to be found. These certificates have instructions on obtaining said Droid X.

The scavenger hunt officially begins today and ends on the 15th and the retail price of the Droid X is in fact $569.

Also people have 4 hours from the time the clues posted on twitter before the certificates will be awarded by the sponsors to someone in the hidden certificate area.

1. Sweepstakes Period: The Verizon Wireless Droid Scavener Hunt (the "Promotion") begins 12:00:01 Eastern Time ("ET") on July 7, 2010 and ends 11:59:59 ET on July 15, 2010 (the "Promotion Period").

Kinda makes you wish you hadn't tortured yourself for two weeks leading up to July 7th(today)?

Dates and times of Certificate placement will vary, but the final clue of each GPS location for each Certificate will be tweeted at the time it is hidden. Participants will have 4 hours from the time of the posting of the final clue to find the Certificate and once it is found, follow the instructions on the Certificate to claim their prizes, subject to verification

Guess it will be a mad dash then. I'd like to ask for some opinions as to when you think they will be dropping these clues because currently I'm about an hour and a half away from Houston (In College Station), and I wasn't planning on going back to visit family until Monday. So should I go in earlier, say Saturday or do you guys think I'd be okay waiting?

Thanks

"Sponsor representative will conduct a random drawing from among all those that found the Certificate to determine the winner. Prizes unclaimed within 4 hours from the time of the posting of the final clue will be randomly awarded (in Sponsor representative

So from today on we should be getting 3 free x's a day... tomorrow is going to be crazy... take your positions in San Francisco, Houston, St. Louis....

Open to legal residents of the 48 Contiguous United States and the District of Columbia

So with this, does it rule out HI?

It's going to be a free-for-all once they post the coordinates. F**k you Verizon. F**k you.

"Sponsor’s representatives will be on site to videotape and/or photograph and record the event, in their sole discretion"

You'll be on TV ;)

well good luck everyone...guess i'm just waiting on the coordinates for #13 now...this actually takes all the fun out of it...and i agree, those rules were just posted today

Yeah turning it into a simple race isn't nearly as cool as a geocaching. Honestly though, we shouldn't be surprised, making it more time-sensitive (so we're watching tweets non-stop) and resulting in a frenzy merges right in with the Verizon marketing department's obvious goal of creating "buzz"

Too bad.
