"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Well, i'll admit it, I was wrong. They just straight up gave out coordinates. That's so ****ing gay.

2 weeks of clues for nothing.

Is this a Verizon promotion or Motorola promotion?

I am pretty tempted to just go cancel my Droid X pre-order and go to a different provider if it's a Verizon thing, because this has turned out to be an uber lame promotion.

you are a moron... They gave a clue out 30 mins before the coordinates so if you could solve it then you have a head start. And cancelling because you cant get something for free is a little childish. Someone else trolling now?

At the moment we still do have a heads up with those clues we have. If they stick to the general areas they suggested maybe some of us can show up and camp it out when they tell you to prepare. Once you see someone tape the certificate to a railing, do a mad dash for it!

Let him cancel, higher chance someone who wants the phone will get it if they run out haha

and has anyone noticed the rate at which @droidlanding is gaining followers? At this rate the last phone to be found will have like 10,000 running towards it.

I'm not complaining about not getting something free, i have to work so I can't just go stand around downtown dallas all day waiting for a clue.

By canceling I would be expressing my right to choose what I spend money on. It's one of the basic pillars of capitalism. People boycot BP for spilling into the ocean, they boycot Walmart for supporting sweatshops, I can boycot Verizon for using a stupid ****ing marketing ploy and wasting people's time for the last 2 weeks.

And actually they didn't give a clue 30 minutes before hand.

They said "Ny droid hunters get ready" then 2 and a half hours later they sent out the coordinates.

WRONG. They posted another clue but then they went back and deleted it later. It said, "Droid Designate #4 has hit the docks in NYC! The evolution of the smart phone has taken a

They gave a "docks" and "long time" clue.

I don't know if its coincidence or not but the last tweet they did yesterday was #4 which was found today. Maybe they gave us more than enough time?

Verizon knows we are all going to buy one why would they want us to find one!

Well, then in that case...I refuse to ever buy anything from Verizon unless I win a Droid X in this contest.

ATTN: Verizon people, you can bring the #6 to Davenport, FL. ^_^

kk, did the Verizon guy leave yet? ...I'll probably still buy one after they're released on the 15th. ^_~

You have the dumbest argument ever. You make it sound like Verizon is making you participate in this contest to get the Droid. OBVIOUSLY it's your choice to attempt to get it for free.

and Yes they did tweet a clue about the area it's gonna be in.

Damn, they must have deleted that fast as ****, because it didn't even get sent to my phone.

I use a twitter program called "Twhirl" on my laptop, and that doesn't removed deleted tweets. Even though @DropidLanding deletes them, they stay on my program and it shows the time they were posted. ^_~ It's a nice, free little program.

I think it's BS that they expect the general public to be able to get out of work and run to a phone at the drop of a hat. The "misses" tweet that got erased with the giveaway clue wasn't even seen by half the folks here who are watching everything like hawks. Was that intentional or not? We'll never know, unless they do that for every certificate. If so, twitter has to be on auto refresh for like 10 second intervals to make sure those who are close to not miss the location clue before coordinates get sent out.

Looking at your list, there are several places in the metropolitan areas of L.A., Boston, Miami, and St. Louis ahead of San Francisco population density wise. There are phones speculated to be in all of those areas.

Now if we are just talking about straight out cities themselves with populations over 1 million then I'd say you are right.

Then again who really knows how they are doing it. It seems like #3 had pretty much all their clues before most even had 2 and they weren't first.
