o man that is great news I'm in between tampa and orlando constantly with home and school! constant 4g would be amazing. get my damn $10 premium worth! lol
 
I get 4g signals in Orlando, but it stays on the 'obtaining IP address from sprint' thing too. This should mean well have 4g any day now....
 
I get the same as whtge8. I pick that up near I-4 and 436 and I-4 and Maitland Blvd. (I work near the latter so I keep checking hoping for it to allow me on soon.)

I was told the same thing by the manager at Dale Mabry Sprint store in Grand Plaza when I bought mine. Looking forward to it.

You are already getting your 10 worth. Have you priced the cost of an i$%^#%^ on ATT in Tampa / month? Ridiculous.
 
So I was driving from Longwood (east of Orlando) to Tampa and decided to test the 4g and found that it starts finding it at mainland and lasts a little before kissimmee
Obtaining ip address the whole time but still a good sign gonna test wat I can get in Tampa tomorrow

Clear Wireless is currently installing antenna sites at multiple locations in Pinellas County with many of them being added to existing towers as well as Progress Energy Transmission Towers. I talked to an employee who is working on the construction of one near Countryside Mall and he told me they plan to be up and running by November.
 
there is an app in the market called map viewer, it will show you where 4G has been detected (no connection available yet in the Orlando area) I have driven from Altamonte Springs to Florida Mall and from Florida Mall to Winter Park getting 4G notifications yet I have not been able to connect to any. In the UCF side of town I get the same, just the notificatin not a connection.
 
Just a lil more bit of info on the same speed test, should have posted this up earlier just never thought of it.
Wifi speeds on the same test as above
full bars (standing about 10 feet from the router)
11 Mbps down
600 kbps up
 
The above Wifi speeds (down) is consistent with the download speeds i get on my home network.
Even tho i hear that this test isnt very accurate, I really dont think its that far off
just my 2 cents
 
Well, I just tried 4G for the first time since the official announcement of it in St. Louis... I can no longer get it at my home in Maryland Heights. Used to be strong (I can see the tower across the street!) but now nothing... ugh...
 
Tried it out today in South County. Was getting an average of 3500-4000Kbs download speed average, with peaks of almost 5k.

Just a tad faster than the HSPA networks I used when in Europe. Oddly enough, those HSPA had higher peak speeds, but a slower average just a little better than the averages I get on EVDO Rev A at my house in Illinois.
 
OK... 4G kicked in after 5+ minutes of waiting. I'm not terribly happy with what my $10/mo buys me, however. The download speed is twice as fast, but 2Mb/s (3G) is just fine for just about everything and the upload speed is only about 25% better (700Kb/s up to about 900 Kb/s). With those 3G speeds, why do I need 4G (ignoring HD quality video streaming which I do not think is the primary reason people buy phones!)

I want 8-10 Mb/s down and 2 Mb/s up then I can get rid of my DSL line...
I know, I want it all... I might even pay $30/mo for that (are you listening Sprint?)!

On the phone using the Kansas server (I don't pay Sprint $30 to allow for tethering and <sarcasm>there is no way in the world I would install a free application or root my phone to do so <\sarcasm>... )

Servers DO make a difference. These are the best numbers I could find. My default server (I forget which one it was) was terribly slow all of the time. If the server/network can't keep up to the wireless POP, then nothing else really matters.

When the phone is acting as a modem the speeds are normally faster than what you get using the device..

I would say give the modem option a shot for 30 days and see how it works for you..
 
ok... did a little more testing (by my window)
I have PDAnet so this is from me tethering from Sprint's Network, downloading a xvid film from a news server over 3G and 4G and these and my findings
3G i get a consistent 150 KB/sec
Now turning on my 4G.....
4G (with two bars) I get about 1300 KB/ sec down!! WHAT!
1300 was avg. speed, it touched high 1400's
Honestly i couldnt believe my eyes when i saw it
those are actual data coming into my computer

I picked up some 4G signal in Torrance. It's not really in Orange county, but it's about halfway between downtown LA and Orange County, so it's making it's way south.

I had "0" bars of 4G indoors but still managed about 3Mbps down 600kbps up, which is almost as fast as AT&T 3G here at full signal. I hope once I get 1 or 2 bars of signal, the speed will start increasing.
 
I am in Santa Clara California next to the Intel building and I am getting 0/1 bar of 4g. When I test the speed with no bars(only showing 4g) I am getting about 1100Kbps down and 93Kbps up. In one bar of 4g I am able to get 3400Kbps down 430 up. This is pretty exciting as Im sure once fully deployed we will be getting some crazy speeds.

Im pretty happy with my 3g speeds, but faster is always better so keep it coming.
