"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Yeah, I use Swype on my Winmo... Takes some getting used to but is great once you have it down!

Okay, I staged near south I-Drive, because of a DM from DroidDecoder that said it would most likely be in the "box" of "I-4, 528, 417, and the 408. Probably to the west." So, I was there when the "downtown orlando" clue came. I hauled ass to downtown. Made it there by 12:19. I slowly drove past Church Street station, but the place was empty, so I continued to Lake Eola.

I drove a lap around Eola, saw a few people by the bandshell. I parked, tossed 50 cents in the meter and ran to the bandshell and started looking, then the GPS came out. 424 N. Bumby Ave, "Beefy King" restaurant.

I ran back to my car, jumped in, and sped like a bitch. Screw the 35mph and cobblestones...I was driving 60+. I was about the 3rd or 4th person there. I searched outside, nadda, went inside and it was standing room only, so many people were tearing up that place. lol At least 15+ hunters there, turning over napkin dispensers, opening up cabinets and tossing boxes around, etc...

I walked right by the damned gumball machine, with only looking around it and moving it a little. I searched some more outside, and by the time I went back inside, Ted had already found it.

Damn, but...It was fun as hell. lol

By the time I first went inside, the Verizon people were not even "hiding" The girl was standing on a seat, filming everyone as they searched, in her "Rule the Air" collared shirt. So, they were not even trying to be discrete, but I guess who cares, once everyone knows the exact address.

Side note: it was akward with everyone going crazy in there, because there were 3 cops eating lunch in there at the time, giving all of us hunters the evil eye. As I filled out my disclaimer and got my gift card, I heard one of the cops behind me eating, complaining about "these morons ruining my lunch break."

good job verizon...if that cop was a jerk, he could have started F'ing with everyone there. Luckilly, I guess the cop wasn't a jerk, and luckilly they were alrteady inside eating because let me tell you...I almost got hit pulling into the parking lot, by a different hunter flying the wrong way up that one-way alley behind the place. lol

damn... But, at least I got my gift card towards my new Droid.

PS: screw the haters...the phone is NOT too big. The screen was amazing! The speed is insane! and the txt to swipe is weird, but could be really cool if I was used to it. lol I kept lifting my finger up since I'm not used to it.

Okay thanks... nothing really to go on other than downtown, which I'm already at. Just waitin on GPS at this point!

guess I can unplug, don't need more than a half hour of juice now!

I was right next to the guy when he found it at Beefy's in Orlando. I basically wanted to kill myself. It's my 21st birthday and I was second... Got the 20 dollar gift card and some facetime though! Check me out!
 
by the way, i was playing with the Dx outside and it was really easy to see the screen...should've handled it a bit more but really just wanted to see the size weight and how it fits in my pocket....all were perfect really, and the camera bump is really not big...the exec looking guy with the clipboard had and incredible and it looked small next to the Dx! i can't wait to get one...just won't have enough money on thursday!!! damn bills!
 
GOD DAMNIT!!!! I WAS THERE!!! IT WAS AT DISCOVERY GREEN AND I CHECKED THE PLACE BEFORE THEY PUT IT DOWN!!!! They didn't place it until the coordinates went out. I found it before, then second guessed myself and left. And when I went back, it was too late! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Same with me...I'd have $200 by Thr....but, not $300+ Those stupid F'ing $100 MAIL-IN rebates always piss me off. If it was an instant rebate...at least I wouldn't have to pay the tax on a $299 purchase, just $199. I HATE mail-in rebates...otherwise I'd be able to pick up the Droid X on release day.

I know how you feel... I'm 3 hrs away too. Sadly, I could have already been in Cleavland by now... oh well... :(
 
damn, my sister was so close, she wanted to park at discovery green but i told her not to because i thought it was in minute maid park because of the "hitting the park" clue i thought it had something to do with baseball.

We have somebody running for the one in Houston right now... Took her a while to park, (parked at like LaBranch and Dallas) but she's after it!

Edit: Annnnnd it's found... doubt it was her... :-/
 
nope. it was found right away. I was checking for it on the other end of the stupid thing, after having checked it 3x before the stupid coordinates went out. DAMN IT!!!!
