Root Unrevoked for Incredible (Recovery reflash tool/Easy root method)

stupid question time!

so this will root the phone, yes?
just plug in to PC and run the exe file...thats it?
and if i read it right, it doesnt stick, it goes away after a reboot?
if so how does that work with any of the things one does with root access?

im not really interested in custom ROMs (for now) mainly want to get the mobile hotspot going from google

just need a dumbed down how to

thanks guys!

1 yes roots phone
2. download the drivers from the html that is included and yes run exe and follow directions
3. yes it sticks if you follow the directions

For those who have successfully rooted using this method, how long did you sit at the "Obtaining superuser privileges. The reflash will not continue without authorization" message?

It said done... now to check to see if superuser is there and to see if setcpu works....

BALLA!

It worked, although it seems like I have to figure out how to use setCPU correctly... doesn't seem to have any control.

First thing, the web page does not show the incredible, it shows the aria for att. Second, I click on the aria and the page does absolutely nothing. What is this?

when the page comes up look where it says not you phone? and click that then click incredible

When I click the link, it comes to the page with the 4 phones, but when I click on any of them, nothing happens. What am I missing?

All question answered here public:unrevoked2 [RootWiki]

(they should rename the webpage too ;))

  • Does unrevoked3 give me root?
Yes. It previously did not; as of version 3.0, it does.

  • What does this do, then?
unrevoked3 will replace the stock Android recovery with a custom one, which adds many features including “nandroid” backups, the ability to use custom ROMs, and a greater amount of flexibility and customization of your Android phone.

Seems to have worked but I'm not sure how I go about removing City ID and the like since I never had to use the cmd prompt. Anyone know?

Updated reflash? Where can I find the mst recent version with changes? I have the 2.0.2.1 I think, the default one installed with Unrevoked 2.
