Dam!!! took about 30 seconds, and DONE!! super user on the screen!!! and backup compleated..

Windows 7 running application as administrator

OK, I get into the white screen and see hboot usb plug etc. Then when I plug the phone in and go into the device manager, I'm not seeing the "Android 1.0" under "other devices".

Can somebody please guide me through that part? Much thanks. Literally.

Can you take a screenshot of your device manager screen? It could be under something else.

If the program said done, then just have the reboot system now option highlighted and hit your power button once. It will reboot and be good to go.

I've been trying this for an hour now and I can't get root. I've uninstalled everything I can think of that's related to my DrInc. In the Device Manager it's listed as "Android Composite ADB Device". I looked in the driver files and that is listed at the bottom of the "android_winusb" text file. Not sure what I'm missing.

Help.

In device manager, right click it and uninstall. Then unplug it, plug it back in and go from the top. If that still doesn't work, then try making a new account on the computer and doing it on there, or on a computer where you didn't install those other drivers.

A lot of the problems you guys are having is covered in the unrevoked 2 video. It should still be stickied on here right? I was rooted a long time ago, so I don't know what this process entails, but it sounds a lot like the original reflash recovery steps. Go back and watch the video and LOOK AT THE HTML FILE. It walks you through the driver install. Just make sure your phone is in the right state i.e., on, fastboot, recovery, whatever.

When I open this page all I get is a page with 4 phones pictured, none are the Incredible. It show an Evo, Hero, Aria, and Desire. it does say at the bottom bar Done but with errors on the page. I am on a work computer, they probably have what ever is supposed to load blocked out. I am not much of a PC user, only use Macs at home. I guess I will try this on the Mac at home or the old PC notebook I have if it will still start. I am wanting an easy root. All I want is to be able to enable Wireless so I can bring my notebeek to work and browse restricted free on down time

Props to Unrevoked for another fine job! That said, their instructions are always quite poor: have to search for them and once you find them, the only real instructions are an html file with instructions on how to install the drivers and no instructions on the actual Unrevoked tool and what it does. The answer "just click the reflash EXE" doesn't cut it... The description of Unrevoked3 doesn't even say it gives you root. So...

What I want to know is this. Is Unrevoked3 a tool where, once you install the hboot drivers and connect your phone to the computer, you can just click the reflash EXE on the computer and your phone is rooted? Or do you need to download a flash (ROM file) from somewhere else? I assume it works with the latest OTA software: 1.47.651.1? I assume I should update to 1.47.651.1 FIRST and then use unrevoked3... or does unrevoked3 do the 1.47.651.1 update for me? I assume it allows the radio update and all the other stuff in the OTA to work properly as I know that was a problem with some of the early roots?

This is very basic stuff and should be listed on the Unrevoked site instead of a big 48 point font link saying "Download for Windows" and a "More Info" link that basically has no information about usage the tool.

The more info link does answer at least one of your questions:

Does unrevoked3 give me root?

Yes. It previously did not; as of version 3.0, it does.

This new version apparently does root your phone if it is not rooted. Anyone out there that could not get root try this?

edit: oops, did not see other thread. disregard.

w00t! i was out last night and didnt get to test. i have failed rooting since the 10 minute video went live. i will be testing this as soon as i can get out of work later; 4pm eastern time or so. maybe someone will beat me to the punch. FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

This should answer some of your questions...

public:unrevoked2 [RootWiki]

And yes, as of this new version, it will root your phone if not already rooted.

Saw that. Doesn't answer any of my questions. I guess you could argue it answers the question of "does it root" but IMO it doesn't even answer that very well: it says it roots but the entire description of the tool just keeps saying that it allows you to install custom roms. Doesn't really answer the question of whether or not it actually comes with one of those or whether you need to obtain one from somewhere else before you can root. All my other questions about whether you should install OTA first, whether the 4G radio works in this update, etc. are unanswered.
