Why do people persist in using apostrophes with plurals (as in the thread's title)?

[Edit: Moved out of post as per Cryptic's pointing out of how off topic the thread had become]

Probably wasn't a mistake. I'll bet it was in effort to be rude to the people around them, unlike your reply.

Thank you helping to move this thread in a positive direction, keeping away from those superfluously 'holier-than-thou' responses that we all love so much!

Because it's fun to watch grammar anal interweb users twitch. We're here for the phone, not an English lesson. I could understand where you're coming form if we'd seen:

"LIEK OMGZ U R SO KEWL!"

..but come on guy, it's clearly a mistake. Get over it.

Breaking this out of the thread and moving it, cuz we were quite the hijackers.

Wait, can I say "cuz"? My spell checker underlined it.

:P

Actually - we are here for the community, to discover and learn and to offer our views on the phone.

Being able to understand the grammar and English in itself id detrimental to users staying on as members.

Prove me wrong.

That's be valid if any of the grammar complaints this site has seen had anything at all to do with posts that were actually not understandable.

Pro's vs pros. There vs their. To vs too. These sorts of things are pretty easy to overlook and figure out what the poster is trying to say. I promise.

IMHO, I think that if you're going to write, you should write properly. That way you don't reinforce bad habits. Heck, some people don't even have a clue that they're doing it wrong, as evidenced by emails I've got that state "should of" instead of "Should've".

I guess I'm just becoming a crabby old dude. =/

Depends on the kind of writing.
Obviously, not everyone on the internet is/was/will be an English major, and it's also relatively safe to say that not everyone here uses English as their first language.

Misuses make me cringe, but I'm not going to go apeshit on someone in the forums just because they made a spelling mistake.

Are you a Kanye West fan?

Irony??

I understood what you said, but a simple typo happens.

I love that comic!

However, it's (or the site it's on) blocked by Websense here at work :( Had to remote off-site to see it.
