Froyo

guys thats off googles servers so its legit. It appears that it flashes the bootloader though so if you like root you may want to hold off

how long does it take to determine this? is it something that takes hours or days or fairly quick to decide that they in fact altered the bootloader so we cannot root if we do the stock 2.2

if this stock 2.2 is NOT rootable you find, I would pass on this, then root, then do a 2.2 ROM. but if you find it is still rootable and the bootloader is not locked down, I might just go this route since future rooting would still be possible.

I'll wait for the answer to this before I do anything.

only glitches i have had were that i had to uninstall and reinstall pandora and astrid. my calendar widget app was also a bit messed up, and puremusic isn't working perfectly but i will update it. aside from that, GOLDEN! working on getting flash apk running now.

I read all the posts above, but didn't see any information of this question.
If you are currently rooted, using stock 2.1, and you update, will this maintain your root privileges or no?
Thanks to everyone for making this happen!

when i p ress the power/unlock key on top of phone i get as 1 second slight delay before screen turns on any1 else getting this?

Chances are since you're rooted that the install will fail but if it did update yes you would lose root. If you still want root and want this update go to the link below. **Note this is not an update to your current phone, this is a fresh install that will require a wipe and only for root users**

I got the OTA upgrade to Froyo about 1:00am on my HTC Evo this morning. It is cool. Adobe 10.1 flash, faster, battery saver, save apps to SD, and a whole lot of other background issues just to name a few. I am tethered to it now as I am sending this on my PC.

anyone notice if it said anything about flashing mbm while the update was installing?

This is what mine said:

E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
Removing unneeded files...
Patching system files...
Patching boot image...
Unpacking new files...
Unpacking new recovery...
Symlinks and permissions...
Writing RDL/BP image...

Install from sdcard complete.
Then my Android system recovery said <2e>... not sure what version it was before.

"Patching boot image..." <-- hope i can still root if i want to... (did i once, but decided to undo it so i'm not too concerned)

Took about 3 minutes to boot to lock screen then ran a little slow...

i'll update more as i use it.

UPDATE (1):
Just noticed that it changed the color of the line next to my emails (the color code so you can tell what email is from what account)

UPDATE (2):
Seems that calendar and corporate calendar have been merged... Note: if you have problems with Exchange, clear your cache and reboot.

UPDATE (3):
Vibrate function seems to have a problem... To fix this go into your sound settings, change the vibrate setting, then change it back... seems to reset the hiccup and make it work.

UPDATE (4):
Messenger app now has white background instead of the black background and has the user's facebook image (or a standard android image) next to each message (wish you could turn this off and set the background back to the black...)

Ok so first thank you for the update.zip.

One issue I'm having. After I move and App to the SD card, the apps work but the icons don't show up on the homescreen or in my launcher anymore.

Also, just preference, I actually liked the black theme for messaging and GTalk, any way to go back?

I just got the OTA update on my HTC Evo and am tethered to it now. It is great, fast, ADOBE 10.1 Flash, Apps to SD, Battery saver, Lighting for camcorder just to name a few benefits, not to mention all of the background improvements.

Thanks, I didn't really want to do a full ROM install, just looking to update. Oh well, I didn't use root all that often so I guess I can wait until something easier pops up or this.

I'm having the same problem, but only with some apps. Some still show up and others don't. I'm guessing it's a problem with the application. But, that's a guess.

I'm having an issue with my Exchange connection not working. I'm not receiving any emails and the calendar hasn't updated. I can access the site from my phone just not pushing emails to me.

If your application is a widget, installing it on the SD card breaks the widget. I think it's not even supposed to let you move it in that case, but, it could be a bug.

You can just uninstall swype and then reinstall it. It is just one of those things but know big deal. It will be fine when you reinstall it.

Mine is working... i got a notification saying something about adding an exchange connection... had to allow it

sorry, can't remember exactly what it said.

PLEASE!!!!! I'll do your laundry.

Oh god, PLEASE send the file to Trident, you will be exalted!

I have sent him a PM.

JohnlGalt can be both the hero we deserve, and need!

What he said, be a hero, John!

Annnddd.. he's offline. Hopefully he gets my PM soon.

yeah it is hot here in ga today..sure could use something frozen today!!!!!

Hopefully is right...

Amen brother.

Soooooo who else is scouring the internet looking for Droid-flavored Froyo?

PROOF OR BAN!!!!!!!!! Sorry I had to lol.

Just so everyone knows, I had to take some extra precautions to make sure it was a legit file.

1: I am part of the Motorola VCQ private study, and we were told in there that we would get an early release version when it came out - so I wanted to make sure this was not hiding any hidden secrets that would later get me in trouble.

2: I am running Pete's BB 0.4, so I was shocked I actually got the notification.

3: I was communicating with OMJ via email this whole time about the file, even sent him a screen capture of the update notification from Settings --> About phone -> System Updates

4: I was also at school trying to get a bunch of stuff done - classes for my Master's program start 16th and half of our classes aren't even in the system for us to register for....

5: Uploading was taking so long from the school servers that I quit and came home to do it much much faster.

6: I have now verified that the OTA update I got was the same as the ones posted elsewhere, and have provided a faster alternate link (via MedaiFire) to Trident.

Happy updating, everyone!
