Somebody is going to pull into the Lube and see a bunch of dudes wandering around holding their cell phones up to the sky :D

Lol that thought reminds me of people on MetroPCS, I feel bad for those people. Worst service ever. Gotta hold the phone up in the air to send a 1KB text message -_-.

Okay, just got back from my "site survey". I also stopped and talked to the guys in the Sancus Sprint store where I got my EVO.

They think the source is coming from the Metler-Toledo building off of Polaris and I-71. I toured around and also think that is the source. I got 4 bars when I headed East crossing over the I-71 bridge. The 4G icon disappears about 1 mile outside the radius (South, East and West -- didn't go North on I-71).

I did about 14 Speednet tests while driving around (don't recommend) and only maxed at just under 4Mbps down and .97Mbps up, though. The guys in the Sprint store say it fluxuates during the day. They noticed it a couple of weeks ago when the demo EVO started beeping! They think it's the first unofficial tower in the Columbus area but don't know anything else.

<need to slow down and breath slowly> :)

HA HAAAAAAA, told ya!!! We got 4geees. Interesting they think it's that building. Nothing technical is going down in there. I used to visit that place all the time. Unless is unmentioned stuff happening. I figured it was the Microsoft building where Devry and all is. Eitherway, we are very close to 4G here. Very excited and mad now I moved away from that area.

It would make sense if it were the Microsoft building. The guys also think there might be a tower close to that amusement area (Magic Mountain?).

Got full bars in costa mesa on baker and fairview... INSIDE hoag health center....

But for some reason can't get any speed over 3.5... I getting 3.1-3.5....
Seems weird.. At my house with 1 bar I get 7-9mbs constant..

I wish it was that easy. The system should be in place and running. BUT they will be optimizing and doing infill sites well after that. Not to mention the sites that can not be completed before launch...

When I purchased the EVO on launch day, the Radio Shack representative told me November was the month we would get 4G in Orlando.

Actually I heard her talking with another guy and we were waiting for the manager to open store and we were outside at 5:45am and they both were talking and they mentioned this in the conversation. The guy was like

"I cant wait to use my EVO with 4G in November" and she said "yeah"

That's when I asked her...."November is when we're getting 4G?"...and she said that's when it's scheduled to be completed.

It appears that month looks more probable than before.

One quick question. Again I'm in W. Orlando area and my notification bar shows 4g network available but when I go to 4g settings it shows scanning and nothing in provider, signal strength or IP address. If it shows 4g network available how come I'm not receiving it?

so where are you in W. Orlando. I haven't even checked for a signal yet. Turned that off on the phone. Now I want to try. I'm in Winter Garden and am hoping I'll get a good signal once it is all up and runnning.

OK guys trust me when I say 4G will be turned on in the FTL area in Oct/Nov Im a condo commando and Clear River is installing the Antennae on our building. I signed the contract last month and the equipment is being installed on my building as I type.

I live in DTC area, near Orchard & Havana with Sprint EVO 4G and no 4G signal in or near my house. Does anyone have two cross streets in Denver where 4G works at this time? I will probably drive there to see how nicely 4G works. Thanks, David

I heard Pine Hills area had great coverage. I know WG is much further out.. so im not sure how far west coverage is hitting.

After root, my PRI downgraded to 1.34. I went back to stock, but the PRI didnt change to 1.40. I tried a lot of the fixes on these forums, but I'm still on 1.34. The good thing about being on an earlier PRI version is my phone's 4g speed is better than ever!

In the same area (downtown Honolulu), I've been getting an average of 3.0 Mbps using SpeakEasy and SpeedTest.net. Those results are with 3 4g bars. With 2 4g bars, Im running at 2.5 MBps. Its not just the speedtest results. I do see faster performance when downloading podcasts and loading web pages.

Needless to say, I'm staying on PRI 1.34. You may want to try that.

I'm over in Kona on 3g and it's super fast imo. I prefer using my 3g over WiFi. I never thought that I would say that in a million years.

I'm going to rely on the 4G connection pretty much solely after next week when I move to Waikiki. It means I won't have to put up with oceanic time warner's awful road runner service for 60 bucks/month woot!

Thanks for this thread!

I work right off of Polaris/Cleveland AVe (Bank of America building). I turned on 4G and tried to see if I could pick up a signal and it was pretty spotty. If I stand in the corner of the building closest to Polaris/Cleveland, I actually picked up a 4G signal, albeit a weak one (4G icon comes on, no bars but I can surf with the browser). If I deviate from that spot, the signal is lost and the 3G icon comes back on.

I am happy for you, but, are you kidding me? When I got there in 1990, there was no K-Mart, Wal-Mart, CompCity, etc.

You're telling me they have 4G?

Enjoy :p
