There are a lot of store options where I live too, but none of the dozen or more people I know who ordered this phone had any better luck finding one in the store than I did.

Agreed. If this thread had never started, I probably would've stayed in blissful ignorance and been delighted to get the phone a few days early. :D

Same here - I've always had better luck over the phone, and all in all, Verizon has better CS than a lot of companies their size, regardless of their product. Whenever I think the grass may be greener on the other side, I remember that it almost never is.
 
I just got my Droid X yesterday :) I ordered it in-store on the 12th, and it was in a week later, after the salesperson told me it would take at least 10 days before it shipped. I was pretty happy.

I ordered the 9th at noon. And depending when the order ships, I sometimes get it same day because of my location.

Like newegg ships at 4AM, I get it by 5PM
 
Ordered: August 8th, in-store, around 5PM.
Processed: Couple days after.
Shipped: Yesterday, August 19th around 7PM or so. It was the evening basically.
Delivered: Today, August 20th at about 11:45AM. I was in school when my FedEx notification setup sent me a text message.

I currently have it sitting next to me. I don't think I'll be messing with the leaked Froyo. At least not until a lot of people give it a test run and come back with more results. I would like the speed boost and all, but not if I end up crippling my phone for some stupid reason. I can wait. Besides, I will be rooting it while it's on 2.1. That's enough for me.

I recorded a video on the way home from the shipping address. I simply strapped it to my sun visor like how I show in my thread in the, "Tips & Tricks," childboard. I might upload it later.

Everything looks great. It's in perfect condition. I got it activated alright. Everything is running fine. Now I just need to set everything up and start customizing and modifying. I should probably test for dead or stuck pixels. :p

The wait was worth it, but it still doesn't change how I feel about the situation. It wasn't so much the oddities that annoyed me. It was the way that Verizon/Motorola handled everything and left us in the dark.

For those of you who have gotten your phone(s), enjoy. :)

For those of you still waiting, good luck. Try not too worry as much as I did. FedEx did a fantastic job and left my package on the doorstep as asked. The note that I left was gone, of course. :)

I'm 40ish miles from Ontario and ordered on the 9th and I haven't gotten anything yet D:
But since nynvolt ordered on the 8th and got his notification I guess mine should be here soon (tomorrow?)... meh.
 
i got antsy.... decided to send an email to ask if it had shipped or if they had any idea when it would. and if it had not - which warehouse it would be coming from.

first time i've contacted them about it - just trying to see what kind of response i get back :D

Darn, no e-mails for me yet. I ordered the same day as you. Where at in PA is it shipping from? Reason I am asking is that I am in PA as well, so if mine does ship, it should be really quick.
 
Ordered two droid x's 8/7 @ roughly 7:45pm est. Shipped today, but had to call. I have not received an email since I ordered. Overnight shipping; arrives Monday hopefully. Just in time to go to work at least.
 
Was told three days ago or so that my phone had shipped. Low and behold that was a major gaff on the part of Verizon and my phone had not in fact shipped. It did, however, ship yesterday and I received it just before three o'clock this afternoon. Ordered on August 9 around 1pm in store
 
you have to wonder what some of the CS reps are smoking when they tell someone that it has been shipped or that 'it will ship tomorrow' and then customer calls back and new CS rep is like "wtf are you talking about!?!"

that's just really weird....

I assume they get so many calls that they'll tell you whatever they think will get you off the phone the fastest.
 
I want to know if it is possible that we could receive a shipment confirmation email on the weekend for our device to be delivered during the following week?
 
From all the sites and blogs I have read, it appears anyone whose order goes through the Ontario Ca warehouse are waiting the full term. That's why some in the same State and even same town are seeing one guy wait a week, the other 2 1/2 weeks. I wonder why, if the California warehouse ships to other states and other states do the same, why is the California one so slow?

Same story for Ca customers getting shipped though other states getting them faster than east coast customers going through the Ca warehouse. I think Verizon should audit that place.
