At&t 3g on a Samsung Vibrant works!

Those battery's dont cost them jack but charge you $49 for it in their store. It isnt going to break them. And i was using the $5 data plan on my iPhone.

well samsung doesn't give the batteries to t-mobile for free, so it does cost them something, however i'm all for it, let us know if it works.

Unlocked iPhone on t-mobile I assume? Well that sucks you can't use the 5 buck data on vibran-too bad the vibrants imei is blocked for the 5 buck data. you know, you could have done what the poster of this thread did. find an unlocked captivate, and get unlimited t-mobile data for 5 bucks on your captivate, lol!

If you buy a phone off contract or an unlocked/open phone and swap the sim card you are not obligated to tell them you have replaced your phone... If you do not tell the carrier you have a different phone the pricing from your old contract will remain the same... for example people who are on tmobile and have a sidekick could essentially replace the old sidekick with an off contract/open phone that was purchased and use it without changing their plan... not saying I agree with it but yes it can be done...

Totally untrue, they (AT&T) do random sweeps to find what phone your SIM card is in, and they force a smartphone data plan onto your account. HOWEVER, with the Vibrant they might not have the IMEI in their system because it's a T-Mobile phone, and you might get away with the $10/mo data plan.

For the record, I had AT&T force me to a smartphone data plan with both versions of the Nexus One, the T-Mobile and AT&T version, so they had both of them in their system.

How did you unlock the phone? Did you pay $500 for it?

Just go to the market and search unlock vibrant...

This is very interesting. I might switch to att because of the 3g coverage. Honestly tmobile 3g coverage is awful I can be on full bars 3g then I move one block and switch to edge wtf!

I was checking att website but I couldn't find the dump phone data plan anywhere. Can some one tell me how to get it?

I have been on my last nerve with tmobile lately and have thought about going with at&t. I'm on the edge network where I live. I use my wifi when at home, and it drains my battery faster than I like. I have ran the thought of unlocking my phone since I found out about 3g working. I also thought about going to verizon and checking if the fascinate's battery works with the vibrant. Verizon has a 2200 MaH extended life battery for the fascinate.

I believe the actual 2200 battery for the fascinate does work on the vibrant, the problem however might be the battery door cover not being compatible with the Vibrant.

can't wait to switch over to att.. i have a prepaid plan with tmobile right now, so i just need to finish up those minutes.

i might look into getting one. if it works, then i will have to see if the battery cover will fit. it's only 700 mAh more than the stock battery, so it shouldn't be too much thicker than the stock, however there is little to no room for anything more than stock. i do have my vibrant in a cast though, so i could see how tight it fits without the battery cover.

This may not be the correct forum, but let I'm trying to figure this out. A buddy of mine deployed (we are both in the military) and att was kind enough to not charge him for the time he is gone. He left me his Samsung Captivate and told me to do whatever I want with it, by the time he is back there will be something better and he should have plenty of money saved up to buy a new phone.)
i already have verizon cell phone service, and i am in the middle of my contract, so i don't want to cancel it. what i am looking at is buying a go phone and their data plan, and placing that sim in the captivate after i unlock it.

what hurdles will i face?

Go phones no longer have data plans..Or if they do its for a very small amount of data
