Official 4G/WiMAX Coverage Areas

It is my understanding that the blue is 3g and the green is 4g. This map is made by people that have the app. Meaning that the area's that don't have any color have not been mapped yet. Basically the app on your phone will record where 3g and 4g are and then upload that data to the servers. Within 5 minutes of doing so, it will show on the map as having 3g or 4g in that area. Area's that don't have any color have not had anyone with the app in that area recording data. What you can do is turn gps on on your phone, make sure the app settings allow your phone to upload that data, and then drive around in an area that has no coverage yet on the map. You will see on your phone that the app is recording data. Once you are done, the data will be uploaded and within a few minutes, anyone with the app, will be able to see the coverage you just recorded. There were a few areas around my house that showed no coverage here in Ohio. I turned the app on and drove through those parts and now the area's on the map are showing coverage.
It really is a great app, but it counts on people with the app collecting the data as to where the coverage is. Both 3g (blue) and 4g (green.)

I drove from an area that has 4g, to an area that has only 3g. On the map the area that was 4g was green and as soon as I hit 3g, the area is blue. For those getting 4g in a 3g area on the map, make sure the app is running in 4g and map those area's.

Had my 4g radio on yesterday to test out the life of my new 3000ma battery and suddenly saw one bar of 4g reception show up! This was in hayward in the bay area. Any one else see any 4g reception in the bay? I didn't get a chance to test it out since I had class but the rumor is that 4g will be operational in the bay by december.

im in Hayward by CSUEB and im getting 1 bar off and on. not sure when its going fully operational. my friend went to get his EVO yesterday and talked to the rep. according to the rep, the bay area should be up and running by december

Rosemount, Minnesota has 4g right now. I live out in the countryside and just pulled a 8meg down and 1meg up. Its still a bit spotty and will probably be pretty kick ass late sept or early oct.

Boston 4g rocks. I got the following speeds in Revere last night from my hotel room. The first 2 are from Boston, and the third one is from the mall 2 miles from my house in North Olmsted Ohio near Cleveland. It is coming to Cleveland from the looks of it!

Found more 4g in minnesota. Off galaxies and 42 near sams club. Getting 4-5meg with one bar and 6-7meg in with two bars. This is all done from within same building.

I have three " 4G towers " that i am in the center of. Clear has them listed as 4G towers on their map.
From what i understand, Sprint shares the towers with Clear.

Is that correct ?

I ran a series of tests using the FCC app. over a ten minute timespan and the results were 2.90 Mbps. 80 - 100 feet from the tower.

The tower is at the corner of I-35 and Parmer Lane in Austin, Texas.

The FCC registration is #1040171 at the base of the tower.

4G Settings > Signal Strength was listed as 'Fair'

Surely this has to be a 3G tower right ? How can the signal be so weak right at the tower ?

Anyone live in Blaine, MN? I live near 65 and 109th area, get the 4G available but can not ever connect. I have done everything but go up on my roof! Anyone get in this area???

Yes, I live right near 109th and 65. From what I've noticed, I get a good 4G signal south of 109th and east of 65. North and west of there it drops off quickly. I don't get any 4G signal at my house west of 65 kind of behind Lowe's. I got 7.25 mbps down and .96 mbps up over by the National Sports Center.

Wow, I think that is the fastest I have seen reported yet. As for people asking about the color, it represents the signal strength. Blue means it is a weaker signal.

@brownhornet - they will continue to build out the network and fill in the gaps, especially along all of the major interstates between the 4g cities. There are a staggering number of starcoaches and RV's running around these highways with Sprint 3G/4G wifi boxes.

Sprint brings faster 4G wireless service to Orlando

It will take years for the fourth-generation wireless technology to expand across the country.


Sprint Nextel launched Monday its 4G wireless service in Orlando, the third city in Florida to get the technology that's advertised to be much faster and better than what's available now.

4G, which stands for fourth generation wireless service, is expected to eventually replace the current 3G system, the most widely used high-speed service. Sprint is the first major wireless carrier to offer 4G in Central Florida.

Other carriers, including Verizon Wireless and AT&T, are scheduled to offer 4G services either later this year or next year. No dates have been announced.

Sprint's 4G is in several cities in 22 states. In Florida, Sprint has debuted 4G in Daytona Beach and Jacksonville.

According to Engadget Mobile, San Francisco is live today. I'm currently in Redwood City (~25mi S) and don't see anything, but I'm also indoors. It'd be nice if they'd be able to cover the entire Peninsula, but this is a big area with crazy terrain, so I'm not holding my breath.
