your favorite games so far

Abduction! World Attack
Labyrinth Lite
Gem Miner

I prefer the games that are almost exclusively tilt-based, since a mobile phone to me doesn't seem like the ideal game controller. For example, Gem Miner is pretty fun but I would rather play it with a better controller.

I didnt realize there were so many emulators in the marketplace. Which do you guys prefer? Its so hard to read the ratings in the marketplace as every other post is a 1 star rating based on user error laced with idiocy.....

NES emulstor is the best as far as function because there are no left-up right-up...etc. I have the snes emulator i love for the games. They were the games I played when I was younger.

Robo Defense. I am playing the free version atm, but I plan to buy the game. I am not normally a fan of these types of games, but man is it fun.

I have SNESoid (I think that is the name). Works well on most games, but some suffer from controls (such as Street Fighter) for obvious reasons (even on consoles, most people like to play these games with an arcade stick), so I don't fault the Droid...

i don't think any of the games are that fun. the emulators are just to play games i have played hundreds of times. i want NEW games. FUN games. enhanced graphics games. i am sorry, i am new, i am not a developer. i find the applications to be excellent...but the games on android are a joke. why? and why can't i save apps to my SD card on the droid? i am trying to learn, i have emailed several developers. even offered to PAY for a cool tower defense game to be developed! can someone please explain to me why the android is lacking in polished games?

so far my favorite is Baseball Superstars 2009. I might end up purchasing that one.
Word Up isnt bad, same for Wordgame (though i hope there are some graphical changes, but the gameplay is great IMO).

Jewels - Match 3 to drop

Coloroid - Don't try unless you want to be driven crazy in a very fun/challenging way...

The Games : (Personal Observation) - I think we will start seeing higher quality/better graphics on games next year. Keep in mind that until this fall, there where not many Android phones. Why develop a killer game for a fraction of the user base? It would make more sense for devs (at the time), to migrate toward Iphone with a large installed user base. I know 1 company (gameloft I think) has stated that they will start developing "higher end games" for the Droid and other newer Android phones with faster processors. With the amount of handsets coming out with Android, developers will no longer be able to ignore the platform...

Saving Apps to SD : This is not a problem with the Droid, but with the Android operating system. Currently, the only way to do this on Android is by rooting your phone (the Droid still hasn't been rooted yet afaik). That said, I think I read somewhere that Google is working on making this happen (apps to SD) in a future update...I hope so anyway. I still have 205 MB free though, so it's not an issue as of yet (and I feel I have quite a few apps installed.)

I don't think it was Gameloft that said they'd be developing high end Android games. Gameloft said a week or so ago that they were going to shift away from Android. Frankly, I think they're just whining about not making enough money. They said Android was too hard because of the more fragmented ecosystem. But if you look at their apps, they don't seem to work well on anything. Every other review complains about force closes. They're just sore that an iPhone port won't work flawlessly with no effort.

If they've now said they will develop high end apps, I'd be interested in their reasoning. Seems like such a turnaround.

Also, to the original question: Space Physics rocks.

Appmanager lets you save/re-install unprotected apps to/from the SD card on the Droid.

I think they actually backtracked on their statement too. They know better than to piss off all the android users right as the platform is taking off. Honestly though, who gives a rats behind what Gameloft thinks? They release a ton of cheesy mobile apps and suddenly they think they are EA or Blizzard or Bungie or something. Android games are going to rock in the very near future (some already do), there is already a few fantastic 3D games on the market (Mystique etc)

Flight Director is my new favorite. My first purchase from the android store. The lite version is fun and worth checking out.

I'm a little worried about game quality. Our Droids are very capable of pretty damn good graphics...but I think that even though we'll soon have enough users that it makes sense to make good games for it...developers may not bite because you can't develop a good looking game for ALL Android phones...and how are they going to specify it only be on the market for capable phones?

Look at the crap that is the Modern Warfare 2 for Android game...

i'm coming from a voyager, which had *no* free games. yes, 0. so, so annoying.

so, i've gone overboard trying out as many (free) games as i can on this thing.

i realize a lot of these are lacking graphic-wise, but i prefer puzzle games for the most part, so that's fine with me.

so far of all the ones i've installed i enjoy:

abduction
buka lite (fun, kind of unique)
gem miner is a cool concept
jelix lite is a fun kinda tetris-like pipe game (hard to describe)
jewels (installed for my wife, her favorite)
light racer 3d basic (simple 3d tron game, lot of fun)
milky milky (pipe-connection type game)
spectrek lite (fun outdoor augmented reality gps game)
trap (remember jezzball?!)
txtspeed (simple but great for practicing using the hard keyboard) ;)

puzzle-type games:
bebbled (similar to a lot of other games where you remove groups of colors from the screen, but more polished)
coloroid
graviturn (uses the accelerometer)
all the phit droid games
ringz
vexed

i also had a spiral defense game that was a lot of fun, but apparently didn't label it yet and can't remember what it was called

cards/dice:
backgammon lite (if you like backgammon of course)
spades free
super yatzy
zilch (very simple but addictive dice game)

and of course, all the emulators with a bunch of roms i brought over from my PC.

a lot of these are on here for 10 or 15 minute breaks between work, or on the can, or sitting on the couch watching tv with the wife. so there's not a lot of "heavy" games in my list. but if you like fast, pick-up-and-put-back-down type games, this list might help!

Paid:
Colorix

Jewellust

NESoid

Robo Defense

Word Up!

Free:
Abduction! (Will prob get World attack eventually)

WarioWare Inc. for the gameboy emulator.

If anyone knows how to get WarioWare Twisted! working, please let me know. The original had an accelerometer in the game cart, but the emulator does not recognize it...or I'm doing something wrong.

24 posts and no one has mentioned Battle for Mars? Crazy! That's the best game IMO. It's the only one I have paid for.

Still waiting on a turn-based RPG like FF for the phone. Seems like a game that would be (a) popular and (b) fairly easy to make. I'm surprised there aren't 25 of them out there.
