Streaming video to Droid 2.2 phone

What is the optimal app for getting streamed video to a Smartphone running android 2.2?
On my PC I use VLC but it seems they don't have any Android app (having donated I'm a tad miffed) so is there anything else out there for generic streaming? I have an app for specific broadcasters but I'd like one that I can pick up streams on my own.

Orb controller?
Doing a search on Orb I got a few hits with Orb Controller which required an Orb Caster on my PC.
I guess I wasn't clear enough, I'm looking for a video player that can handle streamed video from the net, either by way of a WiFi spot or through the 3G network, depending on what is most convenient. Like watching a video while waiiting for a bus or train. Or sitting at a Starbucks and watch the Playboy Channel.

I am running 2.2 my issue is with using it on streams that are direct, something where I can enter the stream URL (like mms.xxx.com) and save it for future use. But I think I am getting closer to my goal. Appreciate your help.

If thats the case, just make a simple html file with those links on it, so you can click on them and they will load. Then just save that html file to the phone and open it when you want to go to those streams.

Good thinking!
You just made me feel sooo stupid. But that is perfectly OK, because I was.
Will that also work with streams that wants to load VLC?

I don't think there is, but someone made a post that implied it existed, but checking their HP I didn't find anything. Kind of surprising since it seems like such a portable application.
