i called tmobile asked for pda support told the customer care rep what i needed. she checked that i had tmobile service for more than 90 days the phone did not matter gave them some info and it happens withen two weeks the email you with instructions. you need to have a sim from another company to do it though. the other way will void your warrenty though

I don't think the 90 thing matters.
I also got my phone unlocked free from tmobile.
I purchased my phone on ebay.
the seller told me it was already unlocked.
I purchased a cheap at&t phone and switched the sim cards
thats when I realized it wasn't unlocked to other networks yet.
I called t-mobile and they asked me for the number on the box which I gave them.
a few days later they sent me the unlock code
