Just installed it & having a lot of fun messing around :)

Just have a couple of questions:

Is it possible to use my old Calendar & Bookmark widgets as with sense or do I have to pay for the plus version to get any calendar & bookmark widgets?

I really like the clock & weather animation on the standard sense screen. Can I use that somehow or are there any decent alternatives?

I really miss the weather animation - sad I know :o
 
you could buy 'beautiful widgets' for the clock and weather, there are ones that are almost identical in the set.

and unfortunately no, you cant use the sense widgets on the LP homescreens, so you will either need the pro version of LP for its own widgets which are great, or get some other 3rd party ones.
 
ps. look for 'easyhome' it allows tou to quickly change between sense and LP, and if you decide on LP, make sure you set sence on a blank scene or strip all your widgets etc from sense as it runs behind LP and will slow the phone down and use more battery otherwise.

Cheers for that.

Just downloaded homeswitcher whixh seems to do the same thing.

So if I decide to stick with LP I'm better deleting all my old widgets & shortcuts on Sense?

Is the pro version worth paying for or are there decent similar free widgets available?
 
I can vouch for the pro version. The widgets are just as good (maybe even a bit better in some cases) than Sense.

It gets updated quite a bit too with cool new stuff.

Buy the Launcherpro PLUS, the widgets are awesome, and yeah get Beautiful Widgets otherwise pick up sensez clock or weather forcast & clock widget from the Market.

And yes clean the default HTC desktop (pick clean slate in scenes).

Just bought LP Plus so will have a fiddle around with it. Like the look of it so far :D

Will give a it a few days though before I clean the sense bit.

Can't seem to find anything I like for the clock & weather though.

I want the standard screen with the animation!!
 
You can save your current scene and set the clean slate one.

Also Long press a widget and release to get orange box around it. Look, you can resize...
 
You can add a settings shortcut that does something similar, but I use an app called power strip to multitask, launch apps and toggle stuff. I use it with LP by assigning LP to the home key and power strip to a long press of the search key.

you can add extended control widgets to the power strip bar and the benefit is that you can then bring up that bar on top of any app you are in, so you dont have to leave an app to turn on wifi or adjust the brightness etc.

in the app 'homeswitcher', the option to set LP as the default doesnt seem to work? when the home key is pressed it goes back to HTC sense and have to select LP again everytime.
 
Switched my phone on this morning & now have it set to default to LP - there was a problem with 3 of my widgets that couldn't load (mini info, snowstorm & battery left).

Just had to uninstall & download again.

Why would that be?

Sometimes I have this when turning on the phone. From home screen, menu,prefs,restart launcherpro

Are they Saved to SD card? If so, Move them to Phone.

Homeswitcher works fine on 2.2 when you want to just toggle between LP and Sense a lot but it says on the Market that it is not 2.2 friendly (I'm assuming because of the 'default' issue).

If you don't want to download another app, just go into 'settings', 'applications', 'manage applications', 'all', select 'htc sense' and press the 'clear defaults'. The next time you press the home key, it should give you a pop up of which launcher to use and you can tick the box for which one you want as default. There you can choose LP. (At least this is what I did to solve the issue).
 
The Facebook and Calendar widgets on LauncherPro are great, Facebook needs a bit of tweaking as it can be slow but the LauncherPro widgets are very clean and very well designed, worth the couple of quid for the upgrade.
 
I dont like the facebook. It looks nicer in style but the messages themselves arent as good as pure messenger widget.

Also, it causes a lot of lag between home screens I find.
