T-Mobile Data Only Plan

Lurker
I am looking at getting an unlocked android phone and using it on T-Mobile. I am wondering if I can use the $40 data only plan with no voice or text. Would I be able to use Fring or Skype to make an occasional call over the data or receive a call over the data.

Is this possible? Anyone else doing this or do you have to get a voice plan?

Voice plans are REQUIRED by all cellular carriers. You can't select no minutes/no voice plan.

But you could select the lowest amount of minutes, to make it cheaper, and then if you run out or would rather use Skype or Fring, then yes you can do it over the Data Plan.

T-Mobile Data only plans

There is one for Android as well, don't know why it doesn't show up. All smartphones can be activated on a two year data-only contract and get the subsidy.

Wow that's pretty sweet. Tie that with GoogleVoice and a good SIP and you'd be set(almost)

The only problem is TMo's 3G coverage is a bit(understatement) lacking.

But if VZW offered this, I'd be all over it.
