I finally got rid of Amazon MP3, Visual Voicemail, Corporate Calender and Email applications, by downloading Terminal Emulator from the App Store and typing the following into my droid into the terminal emulator:

Any idea if we can replace sounds?Sure. As root, and after you did the remount thing at the top of this thread, cd to /system/media/audio/ui. Then mv camera_click.ogg to camera_click.bak, would look something like this,
Do the remount thing, also at the top of this thread and reboot.Code:# cd /system/media/audio/ui # mv camera_click.ogg camera_click.bak
You probably just have to convert a sound to the .ogg format and rename it the same name as camera_click. Then move it to the same location as the old file(just a guess).Any idea if we can replace sounds?
I see. I didnt know that. Thanks for the info. That's because I didn't follow those directions, whoever magicandroidapps is has screwed with some files to make it say that, which I think isn't cool.

Anyone find a screen capture app that works with the droid yet? I tried screen capture paid app in the market and it didnt work.
Anybody find the camera click sound yet? I'd love to make that go away. I don't care about the focusing sounds, that's mechanical, but that damn click is stupidly loud.
drocap2.
Looks like it's a screen capture app that requires root access and it's free. I haven't tried it yet.
Just tried the overclockwidget app. It doesn't let me set it higher than 550 but I can underclock it and there's a noticeable difference when I change it to 250. Not bad. But I wish there was a way to set it to 600. There's also a setting to have the phone underclocked when the screen is off. I wonder if that will preserve battery??

Can you report back on how well setting it to 250MHz when the screen is off prolongs battery life? I'd root just for this. And of course, the ability to overclock when the screen IS on would be really nice.
I am waiting for the first thread... "My DROID is bricked because I don't know what I am doing". I would wait and let the pro's do their thing FIRST. I am pretty sure everything at Cyanogen is for HTC phones, for now. Also, I am not sure there is a Recovery Image for the Droid yet. I played with Red Hat Linux years ago and forget half the commands... I am holding out for the noob thread.
The terminal annoys the hell out of me because you can't use dir.

There we go! Weird, I use linux extensively and have always used dir.
